Queen's Engineers are also doyoye. Their leather jacket slapping on the road gave grandmas heart attacks. |

Hey guys, I'm back in Canada after a hellishly long and delayed train trip all the way from San Diego. Anyways, I'm starting my trip back to Toronto in 2 days so I should be back late august. I updated my blog with a ton of photos if you're curious. http://thedoublecross.blogspot.com
Cheers! Man, I know I didn't know Charlie as well as some... but think we should do something that will keep things alive. More people need to walk/TTC/bike in this city... Does any one have any ideas? Does anyone want to get together to talk about them??? Chrisitian 416.-*918.-*30.-*11 PS. Can Eyefloater pm me (for good things I promise $$) |
I picked up a new pair of Shimano MP66 shoes yesterday to replace my 2-year old, shiite-hauled ones. I don't think I've ever replaced a pair of shoes with the same model before. It feels weird.. They feel really "blocky" or something because the soles are still square. :P Plus my cleats don't contact the ground anymore. :)

re: walker tandem
Crime scene indeed. |
I've had a pretty busy / lazy / good / bad long weekend (I know, it makes total sense, doesn't it?) so I haven't been on the forum much... Hope everyone's doing well!
I thought I'd share some new work that some of you may appreciate: http://www.makergo.com/shutup/images.../rideordie.jpg More HERE |

edit: whaaaaaat? You mention Dave Munro in Newfoundland.. That was unexpected. (I grew up in St. John's) Also: I thought I saw our very own FilipeBarbosa today on my lunch break when a big-ass unicycle turned down Markham St a ways ahead of me. I turned down only to discover it wasn't you, Fil, but someone who knows you. Geoff/Jeff? Bearded dude. That is all. |

Nice! That green ink is amazing. I've sketched so many designs with "ride or die" in them as well, but I'm still a complete tattoo virgin. :P Good song too.. :)

I don't know how long you've lived here but he moved out there about 6 years ago now... maybe 7? Holy ****! Time flies! |

ATTN: Shop dudes.
Do any of you carry Thomson / would you be interested in a trade of sorts? I got a new stem in the mail today and it's not what I wanted but I'd lose shipping to send it back so I'm wondering if anyone would be interesting in trading for the stem that I actually want. What I've got: 110mm Thomson Elite 1 1/8" 26.0 clamp -10 degree What I want: 100mm Thomson Elite 1 1/8" 26.0 clamp -10 degree I know it's only 10mm but when you're paying this much for a stem - you want what you want. Any takers? ;) |

Umm.. I'm not sure, I think I've met him. Did he live in Montreal before moving to St. John's? Did he work elsewhere in St. John's before Trouble Bound? I moved here in 2000, and yes, time really does fly.
YA KID K! |

Yeah - he worked tattooing out of some salon downtown before opening up Trouble Bound. I forget the name but somehow I think it sounds something like Technotronic. hahaha
YA KID K! edit: must listen to music quickly so that song doesn't get stuck in my head! |

Jeff Groves! yeah he is an awsome rider! that kid is super fast if you ever wanna try racing him. he had his bike stolen recently so he is commuting on the monster Coker till we get my spare frame built up for him.

Am I the only one that disregarded everything Filipe just wrote and sat there giggling at the thought of a man "commuting on a monster cock"? Probably... that's ok.
Is it Friday yet? |
HAHA! Coker cycles, makes 36" pneumatic tires and giant bikes and unicycles.

A heads up for the larger members here. I have a 61cm Cannondale road bike in here that I want to let go cheap. It is complete except for wheels, saddle and post. It has a slice carbon fork....105 9speed shifters, ders, cranks, brakes etc.....comes with the matching 9sp cassette. I want to blow it out for $200 if anyone is interested. Figured I would give the good B.F. members a shot before I put it on the C.L. P.M. me if interested.

tempting!

My last year of law school was the first year I wasn't really excited to be at school. Six years of university were enough. That said, 3 hour days weren't too bad considering everything else!

Googled this band from Chicago called "Challenger" after hearing a song playing during a mtb vid (totally crazy: http://www.rip.tv/video/watch/2135/).. turns out one of the guys is a messenger in Chicago.
http://www.challengermusic.com/pages/collarbone.html ^d'oh! that's awls. |
for the MTBers, courtesy of the icebike list:
"Ok maybe I haven't had enough coffee yet this morning but that really sound like a great idea, so much so that I thinking I could use that method to bring back a pair of shoes that got odour/ruined during an offroad swampy ride. Can it be as simple as putting soap in my funky smelling shoes and heading out on a wet ride? BTW, about that smell, ever wonder about the rain rehydrating and vehicle tires remobilizing the nearly invisible flatten remains of roadkill and your wheels accelerating tiny morsels to embed in your shoes/clothing and equipment? Can I get some marmalade with that order of toast please?" |
Is anyone here (shop dudes esp) especially talented when it comes to removing seized seatposts?
I got a new seatpost tonight and when I went to remove my old one and it's most definitely stuck in there. It's one of these jobbies (below) and the downside is that the bolt cluster at the top is not the same piece as the post itself and when I yank on the seat trying to pull it out - the bolt cluster is coming out of the tube and the tube is staying securely in place. Any ideas and/or volunteers? I definitely want this ****er out NOW! http://www.nomcobike.com/catalog/sil...ymultibest.jpg |
Have you read this yet? http://www.sheldonbrown.com/stuck-seatposts.html
The last suggestion might be somewhat more up your alley. If you guys need access to a stand and what not I can open up bikechain after 6 on weekdays. |
I'm sure this has been discussed on here before but any recomendations re: cycling computers?
|
So, what do you guys think of those E-bike things? They are getting pretty popular now and they ride in the same space that we do but they have the ability to go really fast and I am guessing that they are a couple of hundred pounds with the rider(s) on them, so they can be potentially dangerous. As well, there is no need for a license to drive or buy one and since there is no registration needed, there is no driver's test or aptitude test at all.
I ask because a couple of times now I have been riding along and one of these E-bikes comes right up behind me to pass and it kinda spooked me the first time because they are super-quiet and I just noticed it out of the corner of my eye and then, boom!, he was in front of me. I think these things are going to be a problem for cyclists. The people who use them may not understand how fast they can be and the government doesn't regulate them, so we might have some real idiots behind the wheels who may not be held accountable for their actions. |
