Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Is this Trek a good deal?

A 2014 Trek 1.5 is being offered locally for $800. The owner states that the bike is in good condition and has just had a $150 (verifiable) tune up. In looking at the ad photo, I think the bike looks more like a 2009 Trek 1.9. Is the bike worth looking at, and would $800 be a good price for the bike regardless of it was a 1.5 or 1.9? Thanks.

well, that does appear to be a 2009 trek 1.9. the bike is worth maybe 400, being from 2009 and being a 1 series.

I wouldn't go for it because they are either lying about the type of bike to convince people it is newer and make more money, or they have no clue about the bike and probable haven't treated it well.

That is a pretty bad deal, and I wouldn't trust the seller.

What a ****** <--- "deuce"... if that guy is really trying to jip someone. Funny thing is that some guy on my local Craigslist is also trying to pass a 2009 (iirc) Allez as a 2014, I called him out on it and he was all "oh my bad, my MOUNTAIN bike is 2014, you're right." Lol

Thanks guys. Your responses are good enough for me. I will stay clear of this bike and seller. (And I'm certain he he wouldn't go for $300 anyway.)
