Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Castelli sizing

I am looking to get a better quality jersey and shorts. I like the full zipper and I have heard good reviews on Castelli. No LBS carries them so wondered about sizing. I am 6'2 and 178 pounds and waist is 34 ish inseam 34.
Anybody have thoughts on them and size information, seems large is in order but I have also heard to size up. Help

What brand jersey are you wearing now? Compare that size chart to the castelli size chart...usually the chest measurement.

For me, I usually get Castelli stuff a size larger than normal.

Large, unless your weight is all around your middle or you expect it to fit like an oversized t-shirt.

Large should be good for shorts/bibs. Jerseys really vary depending on the model. I once got a large in thie aero and it might be tight on a normal small size person. The race fit runs at least one size small. The standard fits snug but fairly true if you don't have a large middle so I think large if you are fit and reasonably trim

I'm an inch taller and 5 to 10 lbs heavier currently, but weighed same as you a couple years back.

I like castelli jerseys, and I fall right at the border between L and XL, but I have shoulders, biceps, and pecs that are too tight for a L currently.

You should be fine in L.

I'm 6'2 175 with a 32 waist, Castelli L is really tight through the shoulders, XL is better but loose in the midsection. I would try both.

I have the Castelli 'Inferno' bib shorts, and, like other brands, Medium fit fine.
However, I just got their Volata jersey. Normally I am a medium in cycling jerseys but the fine reviewers on Amazon said order a size up so I did and went large. Glad I did too.

I'm just a tad under 5-8 and weigh about 157. Inseam about 31-ish.

Hope that helps.

BTW I'm very happy with Castelli stuff so far (it is pricy though).

so 5'9 175 lbs Medium in castelli sizing

plus the castelli bibs feel like they stretch out a bit mainly with the bibs. jerseys also stretch out a bit

6' and around 175. In Aero Race or Club jersey a large fits me well. By comparison a Med LG jersey fits me better than large.

In Aero Race Bibs Large is a little tight around the hips for my taste (I've got a case of track ass) so I wear XL's. For comparison LG Bibs in XL fit me better than anything I've worn, although I prefer the Castelli X2 chamois.

Hey I'm really close to the same size, 6'2, 185 also about 34/34. Been looking at the Castelli X2 shorts. Castelli size chart indicates I should get a 'L', but have also heard same as you to size up. If anyone has recommendation for the right Castelli short size please let me know.

I'm so glad I found this thread as I'm about to get a Castelli kit. It's 20% off at Competitive right now. Your measurements sound almost identical to me, only I'm about 10 lbs. lighter right now at 165. If the mediums fit you well then they should be perfect for me. Its just that I've always heard that Castelli runs small. I have some Assos stuff and the medium bibs and jersey fit perfect. My medium jerseys always fit pretty snug in the upper arms since I have larger biceps/triceps than the average cyclist. I lifted weights for years before getting into cycling so I'm pretty bulky up top. I may start trying some large jerseys.

2-3 sizes small for me. All my mountain bike stuff is the same size I wear normal clothes in but Castelli road stuff I need a 3XL for jerseys and 2XL for shorts. I wear 34" for jeans not fat at all, their stuff just runs tiny.

My fiancee wears the smallest size possible for regular clothes. Extra small, petite, etc. She wears a MEDIUM in Castelli

6' 205 here, I find their stuff all over the place size wise. Some jerseys an XL fits and the next one I try an XL no hope of fitting. It is the one brand I would never mail order, need to try it on. There seems to be no consistency between items.

I don't know how the tall people on here can wear a large bib shorts. I got a pair of the velocissimo bibs I am 5'8 174 and if I were a inch taller I would feel they would be painful to wear. All the other parts fit awsome the Straps are just very very tight I would say it's a perfect fit actually but if I were taller no way.

yeah for sure mediums for you,, mediums for me fit very snug but when i do get to your weight 165 lbs they will fit perfectly. im the same with you on the bicep parts also. if you have a performance bike near by go in and try some castelli stuff on thats what ive done. some people like the fit real tight some like the fit looser for comfort. i personally like it form fitting so the tighter the more comfortable i feel and the chamois doesn't move around. idk if this might have confused you more than helped you, im sorry if i confused you.
]the thing is every ones body on here is different, or just like the looser or tighter fit better
