What do you carry and how?

I have something like this. I cut the strap off. holds two tubes, 2 co2, patch kit, cash credit cards, and a multi tool. Got it at the army surplus store. 1/4 the price of the Lezyne bag.

I always get jerseys with a zipper pocket, phone, DL, insurance card, and cash go in there, plus a house/car key. Left pocket has food, center pocket has a bottle in the summer and a rain shell in spring and fall, and occasionally a small cable lock on rambling rides that may have a few stops. Third pocket is often empty, and could contain tools but I prefer a saddle bag for that. I do shift this setup around so it balances if necessary, but load out rarely changes.

I make a poor man's tool roll with a rag. I carry a few allen keys (including the odd 7mm for my C-record cranks), a patch kit with necessities for an emergency roadside tubular repair (needle, thread, small razor), spoke wrench, folded into a rag, then put inside a ziplock bag with some money and a debit card usually. The rag sometimes comes in handy for various clean-up and weighs almost nothing. This goes in the middle pocket. Cell phone in the right pocket, and snacks if any in the left jersey pocket. I also carry a spare tubular under the saddle.

I keep all my flat repair stuff in the saddlebag. Generally I have my phone, wallet and keys in my jersey, but sometimes I'll throw and extra bottle or two in there as well if I'm going to be out for a long time with no known place to refill. I've become partial to Honey Stinger waffles and you can fit a lot of those in a jersey pocket since they're so thin.
That's really all I need to bring... On days where I do need to bring two extra bottles I'll use a larger saddlebag and dump everything in there and just carry the bottles in the jersey.

I like the stinger waffles too, but have found I like the stroopwafel a little more. Have you given them a shot yet? I get them from Trader Joe's.

Now, there will be none for you and me!!! At least my wife got 4 bags for me so I'll be good for a little while. Each bag contains about 24 mini waffels. 4 mini equals the same nutritional value as the larger Honey Stinger ones and best of all, the mini fit in one's mouth easily and nothing falls to the ground. I always lose some of the Stinger waffels since they crumble away.
You should have kept it a secret!!

spare tube in the box with a 10 spot in it. One tire lever. CO2 inflater with extra cartridge taped to it. Tape may also be useful in other ways. Phone. These all go in jersey pockets. I also wear a Road I.D. on my wrist. Any food will also go in jersey pockets or bought while riding.

Keys, ID, credit card and a little cash go in one pocket, pump usually goes in another and phone goes in the third. Patch kit, multi-tool, spare tube(s) and a small thing of sunscreen are in the saddle bag. One bike has a bottle cage that has a place for attaching the pump, and if I remember, I'll put it there instead of my pocket.
One bike has only one bottle cage and another has none, so sometimes that means carrying a water bottle in one of the pockets.
Occasionally I'll carry a Clif bar or something in a pocket, but most of the time if I want to get something to eat along the way, I like to stop.
I used to be able to ride to race starts, in which case I had a little backpack for a spare bottle, a little food, and as a something to store jacket, saddle bag, lights, etc. in once I got to the start, and I wouldn't bother to put anything back on the bike before heading home, so it would all be on my back then.

Depends on the ride. On group rides I carry....pump, CO2 cartridges, water, GU or something like it and tools to change a flat or adjust a seat. On solo rides or with my gf...all of the aforementioned plus a .380 Glock. Oh, and my CT carry permit.

All rides 2 to 80 miles, in back pockets only. Center pocket. Small pump, new tube, patch kit, 2 levers, Spesh brand tool, copy of DL, CC and $20 in 10s and 5s all in a tight rubber banded bundle. Cell phone in left pocket. Compact boost food in right pocket in case of bonk. Bills double as boots if needed. Phone doubles as all the rest.
80 to 200 miles, add chapstick size booster charger to right pocket along with a bit more compact food.

Phone and mini pump in jersey pockets. No need for food on rides less than 40 miles or so.
Tube, CO2, levers and patch kit in a mini saddlebag

A glock 17, and I keister it.......
ohhhh you meant food and tools 😤
Tube, multi tool, co2, levers, and patch kit in one of those tiny little lezyne micro bags. It's work to get all of that in there but it fits and the bag is about the size of a thick wallet.
On my person I carry a cliff bar, a gel, and my wallet with some cash. Anything over 60 miles I plan the route with a subway somewhere around 45-50 miles. A 6 inch steak and cheese with a dr pepper gives me the energy and caffeine to get back on it and go further.

Usually I cary 2 CO2, one CO2 nozzle, a spare tube, a patch kit (although I've never had much luck with patches so I've no idea why I even bother), two tire levers, a multitool, my ID, a credit card, and about $20 to $40 or so in cash. I have a very minimal saddle bag (Lezyne Road Caddy) that amazingly holds it all. Then my phone and a cliff bar or some other food goes in my jersey along with my car/house keys.
I also bought one of those Waterfield Design Cycling Pouches that holds everyithing mentioned above (except for the food) if I just want to keep everything in my jersey and go without a saddle bag. On 50+ mile rides, I may bring both so I have two tubes and 4 CO2 cartridges etc.
Then a water bottle or two of course.

I have one of those Road Caddy's for each of my bikes, best saddle bag ever. It's so small yet holds everything with a little finesse.

Tube, two plastic tire levers, patch kit, multi-tool, mini pump, cell phone, cash all carried in a sticky pod. Then, as many gels and chews as mileage dictates.

mobile phone in my center jersey pocket, snacks (if required) in the right pocket, and a extra water bottle (if required) in the left. I hate the feeling of bulk and the weight tugs down on my jersey which is equally annoying to me.

I carry my iPhone 5s in a snack size ziplock bag in one jersey pocket, car and truck keys in another jersey pocket, and a camelback podium water bottle in the center jersey pocket on longer rides, that would be over 30 miles where there are no good places to stop for water.Below freezing I stuff the phone in a ziplock down inside my bibs to keep it above 32f.

Flat repair stuff, multitool, cleat covers, and a very lightweight lock go in the saddlebag. Yes, someone could easily get through the lock--it is mainly to make the bike a hassle to take and deter crimes of convenience if I have to run into a store or bathroom.
I almost always have two water bottles. For rides under 3 hours, I don't always carry food, but if it is hot, I keep a couple electrolyte tablets on hand. On longer rides, I take a Payday bar and some fig newtons. Phone, credit card, key, chapstick, and a few dollars go in a ziplock baggie in my rear pocket.
