There were wild horses yesterday:
http://i771.photobucket.com/albums/x...3AFC5BAF77.jpg (And lots of wind. And a bit of altitude. Not my finest ride. But the company was great.) |
You rode on dirt! It's good you're having a good time, Heathpack. :)

^^ Cool pic.

Trying out the new phone. 3x12's at under 50 cadence, and this place is pretty perfect for that.
http://i439.photobucket.com/albums/q...psukodglwd.jpg Not sure it's as good as the Lumia, but the phone part works better. |
Nice ride LAJ.
The horses were on a side road, which was dirt. We were on a paved road. We didn't ride on the dirt. A flat was being changed while I was taking pics. They were very curious as to what I was doing and started having a bravery competition to see who would get closest to the humans. Eventually it was I who blinked first, they got close enough to me that I moved away. I wasn't sure if a wild horse would try to snatch the Shot Bloks out of my jersey pocket. I had visions of losing a chunk of flesh to a horse bite. :) |

Very cool Heathpack My rides usually take me past lots of cattle and horses, but they're all behind fences. That and most of the horses are worth more than my car.
And in fat, lazy slob news, I took a week off riding because I had lots of other family stuff going on, and then I got sick Friday night, so no weekend rides for me, either. Sonofa.... Oh well, BTTF 1-3 is streaming on Amazon. I guess I'll watch it a third time... |

Interesting cheap bastard Weight Weenie tidbit:
According to Nashbar, Sora 3400 brakes are lighter than Tiagra 4600 and 105 5800 brakes. |

Those 2 crits were the most fun I have had on a bike, a combination of riding on a Nascar track and a technical course makes things very fun. Wish I would of taken a picture of the layout. Two corners you couldn't pedal through, or would have hit the ground with you pedal. Avg speed of 25-26mph, and a fastest lap of 27.5 mph (.9 miles per lap). Managed a 3rd in the Cat 4/5 with 35 people, and crossed the line first for Cat 5 with I think 30+ people. |

The farm animals are amusing. Most of my routes take me past a variety of them including horses, cattle, sheep and bison.

Another great ride today, we've had so much fun this weekend. Today we climbed from Reno up to Mt Rose Summit, which is the highest mountain pass in the Sierra Nevadas that is open year round. Twenty mile climb with 4000 ft elevation gain. Highest altitude is 8900 ft which is the highest I've been on a bike.
I'm on the far left in this pic and that is my coach next to me. Great person. When we got back, we futzed with the TT bike for about an hour. He basically was 90% happy with everything- he likes the bike a lot, likes my position on the bike for the most part. So all in all the weekend was great, feeling very very fortunate. http://i771.photobucket.com/albums/x...B45C51E060.jpg |

I can't believe that 6' 3" thread is still consistently on the top of page 1...
