May I have your bikes and bike tools? |

We did a metric century with something like 3300 feet of climbing, but the stinger was the wind, which gusted to around 60mph on more than many occasions. Machka had to stop several times to avoid being knocked off her bike. Sometimes I wondered why we kept going after the first mile, but then if it hadn't been windy, I would have stopped this post at the first phrase... which would have been boring.

Hey Billy! I really wish you mods, when you ban a sockpuppet like calimtb, tell us who their previous user name was. I know Machka and I have found a few and reported them because they seem to like to target Machka in particular, but some like calimtb... well I just can put a finger on who they have been in the past.

We're saving to get a rowing machine (Concept2 D) for downstairs, but a treadmill is also being considered for winter use. Otherwise, we do a lot of walking down to the beach and back again each week. |

At the rate of 5 pounds per month, how long until you disappear?
May I have your bikes and bike tools? But sure, you can have my schwag if I disappear. My family clearly has no use for it. |

I'll give a hint. If you're going to come back as a sock, if you behave the same way you did originally, you're bound to get nabbed again. I guess some people can't help but be true to themselves. |

And I don't think we have a set of those bearings in the shop.

You don't have tubs full of bearings there? All ya need is a couple more than 9 balls to pack 'em in loose - caged bearings are for the weak of spirit. 5/16" bearings, usually.

Gorgeous day and fun sufferfest ride today. Started with 68* and got up to low 80"s* by the time we finished. It was one of those days where you just wanted to keep riding, but need to take care of other business. On with the day.

Mr. rjones28, aren't you supposed to be preparing for a CX race tomorrow?

In related news, I finally got around to re-lubing my shifter. I'll put it back on the bike tomorrow.

Santa Barbara Century 101 miles/8500 ft of climbing today. Went well enough, I was kind of mellow about it, just riding around with a friend. We rode for maybe 25 miles along a ridgeline. To one side, you'd look down at the town of Santa Barbara and the Pacific Ocean (and lots of clouds, which we were above). On the other side, piles and piles of mountains, just crumpled up uninhabited earth as far as the eye could see. I was just thinking "California is really an epic state, beautiful place."
Nice day. :) |
Not quite a typical Texas truck, but it tries hard...

I would be totally remiss if I did not inform you folks of the incredibly bizarre event taking place in baseball right now. Two perennial losers in baseball, the Mets and the Cubs, have both made it into the playoffs, both won their initial playoff series to advance, and are now playing one another for the NL championship.
It's so bizarre it's spooky. Surreal. Almost beyond belief. Even though most of you guys wouldn't know a baseball from a golf ball, you gotta at least raise an eyebrow at this. At least. |
