I don't get many notifications, but I noticed that it doesn't turn yellow when you received a new message/notification. Recent change?

Should be 100.

It's a wind pollinated crop, and the genetics of corn plants producing Bt has spread pretty widely now. Uncontrolled. Good intentions don't make the road to hell any less of a downslope.

Not to mention that the organic guys who used to use it selectively find it substantially ineffective now. It's good science used in a completely inappropriate manner. Like antibiotics, the routine use of which has been widely discredited now. #thanksMonsatno

Magic cookies ($5) or magic dark chocolate and sea salt bars ($9) contain 10mg of THC. They come with a label that says, among other things, that they may not be legal outside the state of Washington and they can be addictive and they should be kept out of the reach of children and don't eat them if you're pregnant or nursing, I believe. They probably are legal in Oregon now if you buy them there, but I'm not sure what the laws are regarding taking things back and forth between states in which recreational marijuana is legal.

Basically, they check your ID on the way in and the person behind the counter gives you a great long sheet of paper that looks like a wine list. (Many stores have these online and you can research the assorted varieties before going in since there are so many your eyes will cross.) You read down the list or walk around and pick stuff out from the glass cases and they mark it down on the menu. You pay, they give you a number, they call your number, pop everything into a plain white bag, and you're outta there.

My only experience with pot before this month was thirty years ago and it majorly sucked and I decided if I ever did it again it was going to be in a very calm and controlled manner. I have asthma and my doctor has specifically warned me to stay away from smoke both from marijuana and from forest fires- presumably other kinds too- thus edibles are my only option and they're pre-measured so there's no futzing around and trying to guess how much I'm ingesting. I've only been to one store where, it turns out, a former colleague is now working. That was a surprise the first time I was in. It was also a surprise how many present colleagues know he's working there. My company has an anti-drug policy but it's my understanding they don't usually test anyone unless they have some kind of accident at work. I used to know a guy who rode a motorcycle and had a "24 hours bottle to throttle" rule and I've instituted a similar "24 hours magic to tragic" policy when it comes to work and pot.

It's funny because my kid attended three years of college at Reed in Portland, a school pretty notorious for its drug use, and came out of it having tried nothing and having decided she would, going forward, give caffeine a miss as well. And then I texted her the other night to say "I am moderately high and listening to Van Morrison. I feel as if I have ticked an item on the 'Coming of age in the 70s' list." She said that, with all the changes, she feels as if the universe is playing some kind of trick on us and our ages have secretly been reversed. I told her to get these things out the way in her 20s and they won't still be hanging around undone when she's in her 50s. ;)

And then I delete the post and walk away. If I keep doing it enough times, maybe I'll be cured.

I think from what is happening in a couple of other forums -- Touring and Training and Nutrition -- with thinly veiled attacks on Machka, that this is going to be a very long winter for you guys. Either that, or a lot of posters have missed taking their medications lately.

The possibility of a post-antibiotics future gives me the willies.

Hummer's in the room! Nice of you to pop in!

No Wednesday ride, that rain you sent us has arrived in the NE.

The mystery Falcon turns out to be a pretty nice riding bike, all pimped out with powdercoated paint and Japanese tyres. Those sheep are a new addition down by the MUP/American River Parkway to try to cut down on the overall fire load, since it catches fire on a regular basis. on the other side of the trail, they're using goats, who are apparently tougher in their ability to go without water for a longer time. :)

And for @rpenmanparker, your google search ought to include the terms "Bt Corn", "pesticide tolerance in insect populations", and "Mexican native corn varieties", as well as "the history of Monsanto litigation in GMO seed varieties." :)

Why do you call the Falcon a mystery? We are talking abut the UK brand right. A buddy of mine has two of them.

No wonder I was confused. You and Billy ARE talking about different types of GMO. One thing that puzzles me is how a naturally insect resistant plant retains that resistance long term. I'm pretty sure that what the GMO guys were shooting for. I suspect they were also aware of the possibility of tolerance happening and tested many generations to see if it occurred. If the outcome is as unattractive as you say, that's no good.

What's funny is that the only balanced, civil discourse I get on this board is in this thread, which is specifically designated to run off the rails.

Rain here, but I think it'll be fairly light drizzle/heavy mist, so riding anyways.

Ideally they'd be 98 grams each, but they look like less than that.
