I find pickled herring to be quite tasty. I prefer them in wine sauce, but cream sauce is good too.

Smoked salmon. I like smoked salmon on a bagel with cream cheese and onion. Maybe a few capers.

rjones28 10-28-15 09:21 PM

Damn it. Now I'm hungry. :(

A favorite in my family, but I could never put it in my mouth. I do like ceviche though.

I currently do not have any of those things in my house.

Smoked salmon is quite tasty as well. Last year I smoked some salmon and trout at Christmas. It turned out very good.

I have some pickled herring, but that is it. Maybe I'll get some smoked salmon for this weekend.

If you get smoked salmon, you'll have to hide it. You know that Mrs. Doug28450 will gobble it up. You also know that the pickled herring is safe, she hates that.

Cyclocross races both Saturday and Sunday this weekend.

We were eating smoked salmon in Tuscany once. They serve it with their salt-free bread but no condiments at all. Very Spartan. I tried to figure out for a half hour how to say capers in Italian. No luck, but by then the salmon was gone anyway. Drat.

Reminding myself about hiding smoked salmon, but pickled herring is safe.

Not that I'm aware of. But, there might be waffles on Saturday. There will definitely be cider at the one on Sunday. It's in the name of the event, CIDERCROSS

Red herring...yes, I believe I can. Is killing them harmful ?

...it would have been better with some non-GMO polenta. :)

There was some rain/snow mix happening today. Yuck. I went to the gym and ran in place for 25 minutes. Double yuck.

I had to hop on a treadmill for the first time in forever and a day because of downpour on Saturday. It wasn't as bad as I remembered, but I do wish the Y had better air circulation.

Just wanted to let everyone who helped me out with advice that I have finally repartitioned Mrs. rpen's computer and installed Win 10 on both hers and mine. I couldn't use the MS program to repartition past shrinking the too-large volume. The unallocated partition and the one that was too small weren't "adjacent" so I had to down load the MiniTools free one for the second step. Worked fine. I had a scare when my computer booted up without all my programs and data. I thought they had been discarded. Then I realized that I was looking at the setup for dummy user that is on my machine. Once I switched users to my setup, all was well.

Thanks again.

How long did the whole thing take? I don't seem to have as much patience for computer stuff as I did.

About two hours for the Win 10 installs. Funny, one route to the download gave me a message saying I would have to wait days or weeks to be notified that my turn to install had come up. Another route (saying I wanted to copy the program to portable media) gave it to me right away. Very strange.
