Simple, recharge your battery, replace the tires, chain & cassette & apply lube every Monday. Why try to squeeze mileage out of the battery/tires/chain/cassette, lube other than vanity & the ability to say "My < fill in the blank > lasts longer than your < fill in the blank >?"

About half of my rides end up with me being somewhere on time, or someone else does. In That case I divide the time left in half and turn around at the right time.
If I'm going for a certain distance (like longer than last weekend) I turn around at the half mileage point. That makes it easy to finish at a certain number, but I don't care If I'm off.
If I'm doing a loop I just guesstimate the distance and go. I guess I ride way to much because this year I'm often right on the total I guesstimated.

Rpen....you need to get your front tire to 75 or 80 psi no more 77 anything.

Definitely some form of OCD, but hey, that's what makes the world go round. However, it's also a form of training and a way to max out your riding time, so whatever works! When I fuel up my car, I always land on an even nickel. All I'm doing is supporting that bit of OCD, no other benefit, at least you get something out of it.

No, I don't do that.
I generally do not care about distance, but since getting a power meter I care about time riding, interval times, 3 second power, cadence when out on a training ride.

I logged a ride that was 99.2 or something like that and a few people were almost truly upset with me for not riding it up to full century. I got more than one WTF, would it have killed you to finish that last mile !?
I would have but my garmin was telling me my DI2 battery was at 80% the garmin battery was at 20%I had an average power of 220 watts and my average speed was 16.0.
Too much risk of disturbing any of the other metrics while adding part of a mile. I mean what would I do if the di2 power dropped to 79.9!
(For real I got crap for logging a ride that was just short of 100)

So I've noticed lately that I have a habit of trying to finish my rides with either an even number of miles or a multiple of 5 (so 25 or 28 miles rather than 23, for example). I've ridden the same routes enough times to know exactly how much I can add on by a given detour on the way home. I did 77 miles last Saturday and that bothered the hell out of me because I had a slow leak, no more CO2, and had to go straight home so couldn't tack on 3 miles to get to 80.
Anyone else notice themselves doing something like this? I do something similar with time on the trainer, need to finish on a multiple of 10 minute increments.

Those who have suggested otherwise and/or those who recommended controlled substances are themselves the ones who should consider counseling and/or consumption of controlled substances. The concept of going the "extra mile" is time-honored, worthy, and predates these naysayers.
Ride on and enjoy!

After loosing a month and spending another at the seven-hours-a-week limit of my indoor trainer riding patience I had to catchup on both fitness and OCD.

Only once when I found myself back in my neighborhood after a long ride. I had a little over 99 miles reading on the computer so I looped the block about ten times to close the deal.

Given the constant recalculating going on in my head during longer rides I couldn't imagine not topping a ride off... though there's usually some other number if miles are short. But 77, that's just under 125k, almost 5^3

I might be just a little OCD. This summer I rode one of my bikes until the speedo hit exactly 300 miles, then took off the chain and retired it for the winter. I need just a skosh under 9 more miles on another bike to have exactly 2500 miles on it. Then for a winter project I'm going to disassemble it and rebuild it from the frame up with some better components.
Why 300 and 2500 miles? I have no idea.

I guess we all have our little compulsions. I am positively "compelled" to reach my 2000 miles a year. But I don't care how many miles more than the goal I log. I can understand circling a parking lot to finish a goal. Last year I rode 9 miles in the rain to finish my 2000 mile goal.

40 km = 24.854848 miles. I'd think you want to ride to end at 25 miles (40.2336 km).

Well, OK, that's not 100% true. Miles only mean anything to me when I'm riding an imperial century (100 miles). Otherwise, miles mean nothing to me. I have to break out a calculator to convert kilometres to miles, and that's just too much work for no reason.
