Hi,
I'm new here and I'm getting ready to get my first rode bike. Should I get carbon fibre, aluminum or steel? Should I get disk breaks or rim breaks? Finally, what size bike should I get? |

Right now I'm riding a hybrid at around 11 mph average. I'm thinking that with a new rode bike I can get that average up to 35 mph.

Most really good rode riders start on a unicycle. Then, breaks aren't neccesarry. That way, you lerne to get you're cadence up to 65 rpms or so like real rode riders. After that, you congratulate to too wheels and after mastering that, you add breaks. You should be reddy in a year or so and can then *** back with some more questions.

Ha! c.u.m. Is on the censor list
I kinda wish they would get rid of the censor, or limit to only truly inflammatory words like the N word and the C word. |

It's an old but good story.
I went to an auto parts and tool shop yesterday to buy a new oil pressure switch for the van. The original switch has a broken terminal, and there appears to be an oil leak around it. I specified to the sales guy that I needed one for a 4M40 turbo motor, a Mitsubishi spec. Then he asked if I might be interested in buying a genuine Mitsy turbo. Well, not really... the turbo isn't really the issue with the van; it just needs a new head which is coming in the next two weeks. Then he mentioned it's been in stock for around four years, was ordered in for someone who didn't collect it, and despite the retail price of being over $2,500, I could have it for $350. Hmmmm... if I am going to replace the head, injectors, and glow plugs, to go with the new radiator, hoses, and timing chain and tensioner, I might as well get the turbo as well. And if it all goes pear shaped, I can still sell the turbo on eBay, I suspect, for somewhat more than I paid for it. So just before we went for a bike ride yesterday, I went back to the shop and bought it. There is something nice about new car parts... the way they feel and look. :D

Good luck NY Marathoners. :thumb:
This morning was the second event in the Austin Distance Challenge: Run For The Water, where each entry provides water access to someone in Burundi (which, unfortunately, I think saw just got into a civil war). The weather was perfect, with a light sprinkle that lasted for the first mile or two (of ten). My goal had been 1:05, improving on last year's 1:11:46. All the running this year paid off, but I got into the same situation I did at the 3M Half Marathon this February; my pace was 6:29 (so right on target) but Garmin gave the distance at a hair over (10.03) so my total time was 1:05:01. Having hit my average pace target, this is one of very few situations I'll actually accept as a moral victory. Further, the race pace predictor from this says I should be able to do a marathon in 3:02:XX, which would qualify for Boston. I say that knowing full well that there's a huge difference between "calculated marathon pace" and "actually running 26.2 miles that fast". Still, it's better than having the calculation come out the other way. https://www.strava.com/activities/424453950 Next up: Decker Challenge half-marathon. |

BTW I only have seen a few innings of the World Series but it sure seems the Royals are the better team. Maybe tonight, last game in New York, so they gotta get this one! |
If the mods put censor on the censor list, then we wouldn't even be able to talk about it.
TB Bucs are playing. Prolly be watching Winston lose another one. So much for the first round pick. |

I just completed my first 15 mile ride! A pittance compared to the distances many of you cover in a single ride, but I'm making progress! That's what I did with my extra hour!
