I have noticed wanting to go to buffets at 3:00 in the afternoon, forgot what that little lever on the right side of the steering column does and I forgot where I parked my bike twice last week.

I gain weight when I exercise a lot so #ih8u2, Datlas, that is.

Skinny generally helps on a bike, but I've noticed some of the heaviest hammers on the Sunday hammerfest are indeed heavy hammers. #flatlandia

Just lying here playing Words with Friends with a sailing friend who is currently at anchor in Costa Rica. Amazing world. :)

Beyond the palm trees lies the Pacific Ocean. Maybe tomorrow we'll manage to get that far.

Yes, if/when the famine hits, I am in trouble. In the meantime, I will wait for you at the top of the hill.

That was my racing weight in 1987. 6,000-8,000 miles per year later and I weigh 210.

I'm having a nice slice of vegan date walnut bread, chasing it down with not so vegan coffee.

Coffee is not vegan?

Not this cup. I do have vegan cups of coffee occasionally, however.

Ah yeah. Cream.

I love coffee every way. Fancy coffee drinks, iced coffee, sometimes even coffee in my tea (as in the dirty chai latte).

But mostly I drink my coffee black. No calories. I love coffee so much that if I drank it gussied up too much, I'd be in big fat trouble. ;)

Did a fast tempo ride on Saturday. Structure ride, constantly rotating reverse pace line with a big group.

Sunday did a more relaxed pace ride with another group, one which is going through chemo. She continues to ride throughout her treatment. I admire her stamina during this rough time.

What is a reverse pace line?

We usually ride a single pace line where the rider up front pulls off to the left (or right depending on wind direction). The double pace line is good as long as most know what they're doing. Otherwise, it can bunch up or get a lot of gaps. We had about 30 in the group, probably too many, but it worked.

Why would you do that instead of a normal double paceline. It looks needlessly complex. Is there some advantage to doing it that way?

I love doing a double pace-line like that, it's sometimes a challenge with my club as some riders don't understand the principle of it, which typically ruins the benefit.

Done properly, it's incredibly efficient.

By normal double paceline, do you mean the one pictured on the left? We'll do this during warmups which allows for conversation, but when things ramp up, we'll usually go to a single paceline. As datlas mentioned, the constantly rotating paceline on the right is the most efficient if done properly.

with 30 people it would kinda have to be 2 lines with that many, you probably wouldnt get to the back before the next one pulled off
