It does it on several cogs, mid-cassette typically.

Another possibility is a misaligned derailleur hanger. Your shop can check it and adjust it, if necessary, in about 2 minutes.

Nope. If he was having lag moving up the cogs, he would need to add tension. Hesitation moving down the cog, say from 17T to 16T, is either a little too much tension or a sticky cable.

Knowing a little about @datlas, I'm going with the sticky cable. Check for signs of corrosion on the RD cable. How old are the cables?

Cable was changed early this season so maybe 3000 miles. In the past, when I had a cable problem it would DELAY going into the smaller cogs, but never SKIPPED. This is a new problem I have not had before.

I will have to play around with the drivetrain, but I can't duplicate the problem on the stand since it only happens under decent load and only sporadically.

In any case, it only happened 3 times during today's 55 mile club ride. We had a good turnout, 12 or 13 riders, warm weather with temp around 60. Civilized fall pace in the 18ish MPH range (compared to 19ish during summer).

Then, I would move on to...

Clean and lube the sifter, and check the return spring, I've been dealing with the same thing.
Seems like a good excuse to upgrade to 11 speed:thumb:

Yeah, I think the bike is probably due for a little cleaning and lube anyway, I hope that solves it. Easier to complain about it than to fix it!

Agree on the colors, @UnfilteredDregs. I love vibrant. :)

I have a Vellux Sky Tunnel in the room as well...during the day it cast ambient natural light throughout...you feel like you're outside...room is much more subtle that way as well.

glad you like them, i figured you would - anyone i know thats tried compass tires has been happy with them

especially for uneven roads, your rolling resistance will be less with fatter tires/low pressure, they just deform over things instead of deflecting off

room looks even cooler the more i can see, and the cat jungle gym rocks, did you DIY that?

This ride would have been impossible without the fat rubber...They're fantastic, you can really throw the bike around as well, like bouncing a kickball off a fence. Dirt/gravel is like skiing, stiff outside leg on corners, the bikes ass swings...a lot more dynamic & FUN than strictly road riding. The 9W drones are clueless. That cat gym is from "Catastrophic Creations," on Etsy...It works great, The Monsta needs his vertical space.

Swanky is fun, so not cruising, jet there and stay? Cool. I need to get out of the States again, it's been a while.

So often folks suggest corroded cables as the cause for a shifting problem, but I haven't used anything but stainless cables for decades. And coated ones for the last five or six years. Doesn't everybody (who's anybody) use stainless now? Unless they are damaged in a Dura Ace shift lever or frayed on the ends, cables should last forever these days.

That's what "needs moar tensions" means.

Took a LONG walk in the rain today. Glad I left the bike at home, cuz traffic was a nightmare!

I see the 41 has moved on from Average Speed to Average Heart Rate.

Thanks! My shop recommended Challenge Strada Bianca 700x30 Clincher Tire Black and ordered me a pair. I'll check yours out, too.

..I'm not sure why, probably the angle they take in a brifter, but the ones in ergonomic shifters do break......pretty regularly, if what I have seen at the co-op is a valid survey. And a lot of cheapskates use them inside tired olde cheap assed unlined housing. But those are probly a different demographic.

Spotted a Mexican locomotive today - we don't get many of those up here.

Pretty much nobody showed up for the parade, so I didn't have to fight kids for candy.

Thanks. I can do 1" or 1-1/8", just needs to be LONG, like 180mm. I guess I could get a zero-setback seatpost (which would be nice anyways, the seat is well back of the BB with stock seatpost) and make do with a 160mm.

... the place was open (late) when I rode by, so I stopped in and looked around. Sadly, the only candidates even close were an olde TIG welded steel one incher in 150 (c-c). It had some up angle, but not much. :( There actually was a 180 (c-c) threadless stem in the box that fills by worshipping the cargo plane gods, but the clampy end is inch and a half, with, again, not much up angle.

Can you get any more up and out by using a bar with some rise to it angled back and up a little ? I can see where it might get a little tight on your leg motion. But gee whiz fitty bucks is a lot to spend on a stem. :( Let me know if yoiu want me to grab one of those........ they should still be there Tuesday or Wednesday.

bike just fell over by itself in the other room

cool.
