Loving the raptor photos. reminds me of this time I was riding through Van Cortland Park and a Red Tailed Hawk burst from the brush by the side of the trail and paralleled me for a bit before gaining enough airspeed to gain altitude...Was close enough to hear the sound of his wings moving all that air...Awesome animals.

An embarrassing admission...In order to run fat rubber (Compass Bon Jon Pass Extralite 35mm) on my current wheelset I had to install tubes, Horror of Horrors!!!! Beads wouldn't lock up with my not-tubeless but run tubeless RAIL52s, ran tubeless by Dave- the Owner of November Bicycles, So strong enough structurally, but no bead shelf...

So.. in running tubes, I've had two slow leaks this week, (front wheel) replaced the tubes, I have a third in there now and it's flat, (Yes I completely inspected the rim & tire for debris, didn't pinch the tube, yada, yada, yada...)I left the presta valve knob open, I guess it can be normal for the valve to slowly leak?

The frikkin' tubes are 150 grams each...Kenda, lmao...whereas I normally use an oz of sealant. Industry 9 is coming out with Centerlock hubs early next year...My next wheelset will be their ULCX Carbon Pillars...24mm IW, 1280 grams...

Yeah, I've always considered going tubeless on a road bike to be a wash in terms of weight, but for MTB it's huge. Those 29er tubes are damn heavy.

Mumonkan 11-13-15 10:58 AM

i dont care about the weight savings in a tubeless setup, although with my 29x3 tubes i think it saves over a pound of rotational per wheel which is noticeable

for me tubeless is all about the sealant sealing stuff, and low psi/no pinchers

Yeah but think about it...that kind of low weight, with those extralight tires?!?!?!?! It's only money. lol

lol, the wheels on my trek are 52g heavier and cost 1/10th the price to build!

thats what i call money right there

RPK79 11-13-15 11:09 AM

I can't believe Billy closed the fart thread. What is this forum coming to!

Yeah, but I definitely like the stiffness of carbon versus alloy, and as much as I hit rims, it's preferable for me.

I feel like suggesting if someone has a "low flop" problem, they now have medicines that may help...

yeah i mean im not knocking it, and everyone has their own preferences, im super happy with my wheels i just need better tires

if i can find 50mm carbon rims that are tubeless ready and dont cost $800/ea im getin them for the ECR's next wheelbuild

datlas 11-13-15 11:52 AM

...I did what I could in there. it should run for a while based on momentum, another poorly understood bicycle design concept. If momentum were properly incorporated into bicycle design, datlas would not have to wait so long for me at the top of the hill. :( #toofat4thissport

...what we really need in the 41 is a drug that is therapeutic for the sense of humor dysfunction syndrome that seems prevalent.

I think he's genuinely that narcissistic, but I'm enjoying the scrum.

The I Need Help thread needed help. But it's done now.

Mumonkan 11-13-15 01:05 PM
