I think that's also part of my issue. Due to the higher cadence work I've been doing, I feel like I'm churning butter under 85 or so.

If I drop under 95 (on the flats) it means I'm fading.

I'm working towards the 98-ish area, that's for sure. Tomorrow, the drill is to do 3x10 Zone 3 at over 110. I find it brutal. But, my 4 hour Z2 ride was 94 average, so it's getting there.

I was extremely proud the first tri I finally got average cadence to 100. Seeing 98 and 99 was just frustrating.

i like 90-100 for average, if im trying to haul ass im usually around 110

rjones28 11-17-15 07:45 PM

I don't know my average cadence.

You should start another thread about that.

Until I read back a few posts, I thought you were referring to how fast you drive.

...that was my first experience with the new generation of bright, reasonably workable Lithium battery lights. They were in the 40 buck range then, but it lasted a couple of years, and then the battery was a goner. I was pretty satisfied with it, overall. I think my current light is a Light and Motion one, but they cost a lot more. :(

If I recall correctly from my hunting days 40 years ago,as migratory fowl, they can only be hunted with a special stamp.

But actually, geese don't run into your car. And they don't eat up your ornamentals and veggies either. And they don't spread lyme-disease carrying deer ticks. So there's that.

No, but they have to shut down the beaches on Lake Michigan due to goose feces.

Stamps kill?

LAJ, maybe the cadence thing really is the cranks. I have no issues with high cadence, except on hills. My cranks are pretty short at 165 mm.

A bit of a frustrating ride today because I had some specifics I wanted to accomplish today to prep for Saturday's TT. Multiple delays in getting started and eventually I ran out of light & had to call for a ride home. But prior to that, I was riding the TT bike and thinking how much I just like the thing. Got in one really hard interval, a PR or two, just feeling great on that bike.

And funny thing is, now when I get on a road bike everything seems inconviently located. With the TT bike everything is literally at your fingertips. Except the brakes of course. ;)

Wednesday ride today. I am taking the aluminum project bike again, mainly because I am too lazy to diagnose the rear shifting sluggishness of the Habanero. I suspect the cable is starting to fray inside the shifter housing. Those ultegra 6700 RD shifters seem to chew up cables in short order, like about 3000ish miles. And a pain to change. I hope the newer generation design is better, anyone know?

It seems like the technology of LED lights is rapidly changing so IMO it makes sense to get a cheap one with expectations that it will last 1-2 years, by which time even better ones will be available.

Limit the ammunition . . . you know, those little sawtooth edges. Trim them off.

My understanding is not only is the new generation better, but the same-generation (but released next year) 105-5800 has the improved design that doesn't kill cables as fast.

The Fuji CX has 105-5800. It's been ridden thru mud and rain. The shifters have been bashed into hillsides, buried in sand, disassembled, washed, and re-lubed. They still work well.

And no rust. ;)

rpenmanparker 11-18-15 09:03 AM

Okay, who is going to post the obvious stamp?

Financing didn't go through on the Nitro so I ended up with a 2012 Ford Flex. Really liking it.
