I was on 95 today for a few miles while coming back from a conference in St. Augustine. Fortunately it wasn't too many miles since I try to avoid major interstates. Most of the drive home was on rural scenic road with very little traffic. As I drove was thinking how nice some of the roads would be for cycling. Will be good to get back on the bike after 4 days off.

BillyD I have a suggestion to keep posts on the LCF forum more friendly. Just create a feature that auto-locks the thread after 5 minutes and deletes it after 10.

I'd like to lock that whole place down, fill it with cement, and push it off a bridge.

No wait, that wouldn't be deep enough.

I put the Habanero up on the stand to figure out why the RD shifting is acting sluggish. I was hoping for some crud in the under-BB cable guide that was interfering with the action. Nope. Next, I peeled back the hood cover and saw a few tell-tale strands of a cable that was in the process of fraying/breaking.

Luckily it was early enough in the process that I was able to extricate the fraying cable without too much hassle, and threaded a new cable on and now the shifting is flawless.

That Ultegra 6700 design is crap for those of us that ride a lot. Sure, a fair-weather weekend rider will probably get several years of service on theirs. But I am going through 2 cables per year which means the cable is only lasting 2500-3000 miles. Yes we have a lot of rollers so I probably shift a lot more than the average rider, but this is still a crap design IMO.

/end rant

Oh, just replace the shifters with 105-5800. How much do you value your time, per hour?

Not a bad idea, actually. Those 6700 shifters are pretty rusted too. I will consider your advice.

SpeshulEd 11-18-15 06:00 PM

I need to redo cabling on two of my bikes...one needs brakes and shifters, other just brakes.

I've never done this before, but I'm imagining it can't be that hard with a little help from youtube. Guess I'll find out shortly.

Horrible lighting, but what does he care - belly is full, safe and sound high up in a tree, unperturbed by the idiot humans gawking below.

Our Windows computer that controls our club's 9 rider Computrainer set-up decided to lose its port assignments in the middle of our workout so I said screw it and went home.

Ours didn't. Finished the whole thing, right down to the one-leg drills at the end.

Our software needs to be upgraded. Between it and Windows, it decides to crap out every now and then. Today was one of those days.

My mom sent me a text asking if LoP and I wanted to come up and get some Chinese food because she ordered too much. I said "Of course." While we were there, I found a case with the first three "Die Hard" movies and right beside them was "Live Free or Die Hard". Mom's never going to watch them so it looks like Christmas came early at our house. #majorscore #datenight

If you want to get in on the "locked forum", you better hurry. It can't last long.

I made it.

Me too but I can't say I contributed anything useful.

You're much too modest. Your post is the class of the thread.

Doug28450 11-18-15 09:36 PM

Billy must be getting a snack.

FLvector 11-18-15 09:41 PM

Probably sorting through his bald eagle pictures deciding on the next gem.

rpenmanparker 11-18-15 09:45 PM

Damn, that was fun while it lasted. What are we going to do now?

...it was a spectacular day here today, so I actually put in about 3 and a half hours riding this:

I guess if I Strava'd, or had a Garmin, or even thought about it I could figure out how far and how fast. :o #dontcare
