glad to see another geocacher on here. whenever i mention it to people i either get really weird looks or a lot of "thats awesome!" like were finding dubloons in the woods

working on a sweet puzzle cache that involves 4 locations and a computer for a flash drive, nice large size container at the end though :)

He's getting a custom frame built for a good reason. There's nothing off the shelf even close to those proportions. And not everyone is looking for a big saddle to bar drop even on the road.

The angles on the Trek 50cm are likely so far off that the fit wouldn't work out even if he could find a long enough seatpost and tall enough stem.

Don't forget that adding spacers to increase the effective head tube height actually shortens the reach due the back leaning angle of the head tube. You can actually go to a somewhat longer top tube/larger size frame. Because of the need for so muc head tube, the reach will be shortened.

Speaking of the greater 41, what the heck happened in that work stand thread? Simple question, simple answers based on personal experience, now everyone wants to kill each other. Then again, sounds like typical 41 behavior.

I dunno, I haven't even peeked in there yet, but I'm not surprised.

It could have been worse if one letter had been changed to a "C". Or it might have made it easier to understand. :innocent:

...there was some talk of saddles, and calculators earlier. Here is what a real saddle looks like, just so you will all know. It is a Unicantor # 2, and that's all you need to know. :) #Pakistani_buffalo

It's highly unscientific compared to the Bontrager and Specialized approach with different widths in each saddle, etc. To make matters worse, I'm clearly between a Chameleon and a Snake according to the stretch chart, but when I was putting in serious miles, I loved my Aliante, which was the Bull saddle. Go figure.

Or as @rjones28 would say, "Whatever."

I've been riding a classic San Marco Regal for a while. It's not horrible, but is a little wide (149mm). Before the Regal, I used a Ritchey that is about 135mm wide. I think I'm going to give the Fizik Kurve (for snake) a try.

Is it that there is apparently more than one of those tags?

Mumonkan 11-20-15 07:43 PM

wonder if they both mean the same thing?

Not only do I know what a Unicantor looks like. I know what it feels like.

Figured I'd kill some time and test out your theory. I tried a 60cm Domane frame and determined that he could get roughly the same fit with a few minor adjustments:

saddle pushed 14mm further forward on seatpost (or straight post and ~10 mm back)
70mm long 45° stem instead of 90mm 0°
40mm of spacers

I'd go with custom, too.

I like to do it in the cooler months when the foliage is down and when I ride more for relaxation. BTW, I posted the same two pics on FB and my wife said I was weird. :D

My response when my friends say it's too cold to ride or that they don't want to get up before dawn: ???

Do you have a workout to do, yes or no? If yes, then just do it. On the trainer, in the dark, when it's cold, whatever, get it done.

The disconnect is that they don't have a workout to do. And what they do on Wednesday is not dependant on what they did Tuesday, so it doesn't really matter.

Oh yeah. I forget that's how it is for normal people.

:)

Not recommended for long days in the saddle.

Nice! Care to share the route? I was out today for ~28 miles even though I had too much work to do. 53 and sunny on my bike was way better than sitting at the computer for lunch. If I am out at all tomorrow it will be pulling the trailer with my kiddo and his bike over to Bellevue for some 'racing' on the dirt track.
