Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

That is correct.

I have not looked at Q's site. Do they show availability or just a part number? I am only repeating what we were told today by a pretty high level guy at SRAM. He told us that OEM and complete groups first then 4 piece groups would be available sometime later this year. Don't shoot the messenger

Besides the obvious easy install I LOVE that the front and rear deraileur batterys are interchangable so that if the rear dies from being used more than the front you can simply swap the batteries front to rear and keep on going. I also like that firmware updates will be done by the consumer with a supplied dongle from their home computer.

I thought you were saying that SRAM was only selling complete groupsets initially(not mini groupsets). It makes sense that they are filling orders for OEM sales first, before offering any sort of groupsets.

I thought we all determined that DI2 simplifies this by just deactivating the FD and keeping the RD live for as long as possible when the battery drains.

He said that full groupsets would be available very soon but NOT mini kits.

Left shifter moves the RD left, right shifter moves the RD right.

I guess that work as well. By deactivate do you mean unplug or simply not use the front?

That is news, because I've only seen them listed as a mini-groupset.

Yeah, remembering how to shift up or down is hard.

[not a DI2 user] I thought users have reported (and perhaps Shimano designed it this way) that the FD will stop working long before the RD, either due to its higher power draw (which a drained battery is unable to supply) or due to programming that recognizes a low battery and shuts it down to conserve power for the RD.

Big lever - bigger cog/chainring. Small lever - smaller cog/chainring. Or at least that how I explain it to newbies.

But newer/different is always better so...

Yep, never had a problem with remembering how to shift, until Shimano thought Rapid-Rise derailleurs were needed.

if I can't remember how to shift because of the beers, balance might be a bigger issue.

Both have their pros and cons, so pick the one that works best for you.

One of the things I like about eTap is the micro adjustments of the RD in 0.2mm intervals making fine tuning a breeze.
yes the firmware will probably fix it but Di2 ultegra and e-tap don't think it's night and day. So i'll probably go with Di2 ultegra (upgrade kit) esp the price difference
