Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Can I get some help here?

My bike got a flat. It is a 2005 Trek 1200. I have not ridden it much lately and when I went to take it down from the hook in the garage, the tire was flat.

I cannot find my receipt to return the bike. Can one of you make a dummy receipt for me so I can take it back? Bought it at Richardson Bike Mart.

Oh, and it attracts dust too.

Those old Treks tires/tubes are easy to reinflate. Much like inflating a pool raft, pinch the valve, stick it in your mouth and start blowing.

Good luck.

Take it back to whichever store is most convenient ... no reason you shouldn't get a full refund at least, no matter where you bought it.

What you need is a new S-Works Venge.

Do they hang on hooks in the garage better than Treks? I want something light and easy to lift onto a hook.

Wait for 20-30 posts offering helpful, practical advice.

Then do the exact opposite.

It will be 2-3 pounds lighter so it will be easier to get up there and will cause less strain on the hooks and wood they are connected to.

Your problem was hanging by the hook. The stress over time caused the rim to bend and letting air escape.

You need to get with the new bike lease program. Every two years you get a brand new bike and stay current. Brand new tires, new components, no crud, no dust. You're sooo old school.......

Should I return the hook to Home Depot and get a new one? Bought it at Lowes, but they are a mile further down the road from me.

If your bike is that defective, you should consider suing Trek. Imagine what would happen if that dust flies off your bike and in your face while going downhill on flat tires. I bet the factory chain lube has worn off by now too. Totally Trek's fault.

Uh...just message me your bank account numbers, specifically any swiss, and a scan of your signature and fingerprints and I'm sure we can work something out.

No the hook is fine. You need a new garage. A titanium garage is best.

I was wondering about that. Do I return that to the EPA?

If you seal the garage well enough, and attach a vacuum pump to it, you can expand the tires, instead of increasing the pressure in the tires.

Also, the tires might ride just fine on the moon and less gravity will make pedaling much easier. Keep this simple.
