"gravel" comes in many shapes sizes and colors too, i used to regularly ride a 2 mile stretch of gravel on my track bike with 23mm tires no problem
but that gravel was crushed pebbles about the size of red lentils over hardpack, if you had thumb sized jagged gravel roads, then those 25s would get you about 10 feet |
finally have the motivation to work on a new blog post from last week, i didnt take any pictures worth keeping with my SLR so i'm using all the bros cell/gopro pics
works out since it was a collaborative effort anyway, i like that |
speaking of, heres a vid one of the bros took during the brovet
didnt even know he was filming any of these times, what a creeper |

Another swim meet bites the dust.

Ouch. Nonetheless, also awesome. Because it was running. |

From a complete non-runner, even I can see that is a pretty damn nice effort. Well done, @Bah Humbug
I actually started with the 1:30 pace group, intending to walk away at about mile ten and shoot for 1:28. Just before finishing the first mile I felt really good and moved ahead then... and got caught back up to by the group at mile five. Oops. Ran with them until mile ten, tried to move out... and couldn't get past them into the headwind. Finally got out in front after another half-mile or so, then managed to hang on until having to outsprint another guy in the final tenth. Still only good for fourth in age group; AG got first in hers. And then, right across the finish line, felt like booting into the trash can. Actually thought about it for a moment before fighting everything back down. Next up: Rogue 30k, on Jan 10. Will be my longest running race ever. |
nice, back when i could run i would love it when i passed that wall and just got into the zone or runners high and just felt like i could go on forever

Fun has a different meaning to different folks, eh? Fun to me is riding on the smoothest, flattest road I can find. Go figure!

Ok, so I got the headset cleaned and re-installed and put it a good BB (loose ball bearing FTW) and cleaned up the frame. It's seriously not good paint.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...c/IMG_3956.jpg But for now, I just need to get it rolling before I go too crazy. A chemical strip is super duper easy. I've done that before, but then I'd have to knock out the headset again (which it kind of needs a new one anyway). The rear wheel is just really jacked and the rim is a goner. I got it sort of straight, but I doubt I can really set up a brake properly. I'll try to use it for the initial test runs, but it will need to be rebuilt/replaced. We'll see how it works out. I already have a set of 7 speed DT shifters and bar end adapters, so that will sort out the shifting. I'm like a tooth over the max recommended wrap for my 6 speed 105 RD and a guy on Velobase commented that he was able to run it on 6/7/8 speed setups with a 32 tooth rear cog. My largest is a 30 on this wheel. I'm going to probably be able to get it up and running in some form or fashion by the end of the week. |
Last TT of the year. Second place. Lost to my nemesis yet again. BUT we had tough conditions today, windy and an unfavorable wind direction. Nemesis was slower than her personal best by 1 min. I PRed my race by 53 seconds! I thought I was going to be at a big disadvantage with the wind making things trickier because there were three way more experienced women racing today. Somehow I pulled it off, no one is more surprised by this than me.
http://i771.photobucket.com/albums/x...CA16C0F0E3.jpg Yesterday I told Mr H that I couldn't stand to see the Di2 wires out in the airflow, could we please get them run internally?! Sure no problem, he said. And a mere 6 hours later, it was done. TT bikes are a little like working on a ship in a bottle. This is the last race of the year for me. Currently in second place in the SoCal TT series. I know! Me. It's been a good run so far, seven TTs, every one of them a PR. Three wins, three second places and a TT bike that I actually love to ride. :) |
I wish my MTBs had paint that good.
Well I guess the Yokota paint's better, but it's my tanklike beater :) |
