They're also more fun because they require more frequent pressure checks and pumping, which brings you closer to your tubes and offers a more personal connection. If you're more connected to your bike, you ride more. Simple. Butyl tubes offer none of these benefits, you should ask for the priciest latex tubes available.

I see this as more of a rim problem than a tube problem. I've been caught out with short stem tube and my 26mm deep dish Rolfs a time or two - as soon as I get some reasonable replacement wheels, those Rolfs are going up on the CL!
