I buy 60s now due to a couple sets of deep rims. One set that I have requires 80s but I rarely ride those anymore.

Not really. I see that as more coincidence than anything else. The guy is at the end of his productive career which would totally explain his dropoff in performance.

I just can't wait until somebody outs Tom Brady, because you know that smug prick is cheating.
QUOTED for truth and emphasis.

No. There's A LOT on your bike that doesn't matter and won't make you slower if you don't buy the right one.

But since you've been a BF reader, I understand why you would think otherwise.

Which brings to mind this saga: This affluenza story is possibly the most outrageous thing I have ever heard of in my life. If the filthy rich only represent 5% of the country, than the other 95% should be outraged and raising hell over this. And the presiding judge should be investigated and thrown in jail for corruption/influence peddling. :wtf:

BillyD 12-29-15 12:39 PM

I know we usually keep it pretty light around here, but this is too appalling to ignore.

(Plus my other friends are at work and unreachable right now.) :o

Whatever. You can go to CVS and get an affluenza shot for like $20.

Anyone know whether HGH has any properties that would be beneficial in recovery from injury that would perhaps be a motivating factor for him if he did actually take it? Other than recovery, I can't see how HGH would offer all that much benefit to a quarterback.

That's it's primary use - healing and recovery. The allegation is that he'd used it after the neck surgeries in 2011. Like you, I hope he's clean... but like I said, how many guys have had these allegations come out and been actually innocent? I can't think of one. They all pound the table for innocence... and then eventually confess.

Of course he was taking HGH, but he's the NFL favorite QB, and nothing will come of this. You can't penalize a professional athlete that never failed a drug test.

Favorite over Brady? Not a chance. I honestly suspect THAT man - he's practically not aging. Of course, I'm biased.

You have friends?

When did that happen?

RollCNY 12-29-15 12:45 PM

Bill, it is unfortunately not as cut and dried as the newspapers make it out. The perp was processed as a juvenile, and if the judge threw the book at him, the worst case penalty was something like 6 months incarceration. Just because the defense argued "affluenza" does not mean that the judge was impacted by the argument. I read an article that reviewed the judge's history of rulings, and he has a mix of harsh and lenient rulings with juveniles, leaning more generally to the lenient side.

You can actually make an argument that the punishment was established in an apt manner, in that any drinking on the young criminal's part over a ten year period would be a violation of the fool's probation, and would get him sentenced to potentially serve as an adult. Sounds like a contingency with some forethought, and it is what the perp and his mom were fleeing. I am not one to give credit to Texas law enforcement, but this looks like one of the better ones given the totality of the limitations.

I think we all knew it was coming to this, but here we are and I still find myself surprised. There's a thread going where people are debating when it is an appropriate time to give someone kudos on Strava.

I don't know about you guys, but that seems even more absurd to me than worrying about sock length or waving or NDS bike pictures or whatever.

Pretty much. If I see someone gave me kudos I just assume they just uploaded a ride themselves and were looking at what others are doing. It's like a The Facebook "like".

If one pops up, it needs to be titled something along the lines of, "Can Manning still call himself a 1x SuperBowl Champion?"

Just another pissing contest to engage in for those that post more than they ride. I guess we expect this in the winter.

We had someone that would suck wheel the whole ride, then just when he got to the Strava segment he was trying to get a KOM, he would shoot his wad for the segment and be spent the remainder of the ride. After we saw what he was doing, we'd all yell Strava as we approached the segment, laughing too hard to pedal.

I just went on Strava and gave those of you I am stalking a thumbs up for each activity.

I think you have 2. I know you rode your bicycle cycle once this year.

WhyFi 12-29-15 01:30 PM

We head out on our half-way-across-the-country road trip tomorrow, to visit the in-laws. I have some good audiobooks loaded up (@RollCNY might like "As You Wish," I'll let you know what I think after listening), but heaven help me none the less. Oy.

I don't know if I logged many in the spring, either. I went through a GPS-naked phase, a la datlas; didn't find it as liberating as some 41ers make it out to be. Didn't do ****-all after the late spring, though.

WhyFi 12-29-15 01:36 PM

That reminds me - I am interested in the Fulton Brewery century this year. I have no idea of what the course is like, but when I see something on it, I'll let you know so you can gauge interest.
