For me, in ride HR is super critical with my heart condition. That totally justifies my geek equipment to my wife.

I have the new Edge 520, which uses BT to sync with my phone. When I start a ride, I have to turn live track on using the phone (so my wife will know where to look for my body when I get hit by a car... there will be an update that auto detects crashes, btw), and then I just hit start on the 520. I've got all live data up on screen while I ride. I turned the strava live segments off, btw. Then when I'm done, I just hit stop, and then ok to save ride. It auto-syncs to garmin connect, and then over to strava by the time I've got the garage door open with no action from me.

I spend more effort getting my workout tunes going and stopping them at the end than I do for managing my ride data. THIS is why the 520 is awesome compared to earlier units. No messing with it.

What I'm really wanting lately is a power meter to hook up (those PowerTap pedals look suhweet!). Unfortunately, I'm too poor for that at this time :(

Your heart issue really is a worry. Any and all gadgets are needed, and approved! I run a Contour at all times. If I'm wadded on the side of the road, it's likely Mrs. LAJ won't go there, but it would be nice for people to see the asshat that ran me over.

I like the post ride data too much to just go naked. I will put up a screen containing less real time data though.

Riding naked *is* liberating and I highly recommend it but those of us in the PNW will have to wait at least five months for extremity-safe conditions.

The further point is that, if the problem is the kid hadn't (and clearly hasn't) learned that actions have consequences, how is letting him off with probation going to help? Clearly it didn't. Hope he gets tossed in the actual slammer for a few years now.

He should also be forcibly cured of "affluenza". I have a few suggestions on how.

It appears, from news reports that I have read, is that mom may be going to the slammer as well.

I don't know if I logged many in the spring, either. I went through a GPS-naked phase, a la datlas; didn't find it as liberating as some 41ers make it out to be. Didn't do ****-all after the late spring, though.

I went dark on the bike ride tracking for a while, too. Next year, I'm gonna log 'em all!

On Christmas Eve, Bill Strickland mentioned what's REALLY missing from bike riding data collection:

I give kudos to everyone. Yay for riding your bikes!

Wrong. Latex tubes give you an extra 2-3 mph at 300W on a sustained 20% grade. They're also more fun because they require more frequent pressure checks and pumping, which brings you closer to your tubes and offers a more personal connection. If you're more connected to your bike, you ride more. Simple. Butyl tubes offer none of these benefits, you should ask for the priciest latex tubes available.

Plus pulling pink or mint tubes out of your tires freaks people out.

My 810 has been doing this for over two years. :P

Tempted to start a thread asking if anyone has experience with the 2018 Foundry Chilkoot. I mean someone has to be in the know right?

I'm kinda digging on the Chilkoot now that I brought it to my own attention.

Bleah. Tried it. Feel blind, and I really like being able to track volume, progress, and all of that. Not knowing what I've done, training-wise, only hurts.

She's talking literally nekked . . . as in buck nekked . . . as in no clothes.

I have a 60 on the back of the Fuji CX, because we were out of 48s when I needed it. It looks kind of funny.

I give kudos to Stacey because she's the only serious rider around here. :)

I get dizzy if I look at my valve stems while riding.

I read an interesting blurb today that 90% of US'ers consider themselves middle class, and Bernie Sanders, Mr. Tax the Upper Class, thinks that middle class is defined as $250k household income or lower. To be in that elusive 5%, one needs a household income of $206k per annum. Are we surrounded by people who find math strange and confusing? Sheesh.

BillyD 12-29-15 05:15 PM

To be fair, if you "only" made 250k you'd feel like you were middle class because you'd wish you made 500k. And so on and so on.

Interestingly, if you ask someone how much they need to earn to be wealthy, they almost universally will state a number 50% higher than their current earnings. There have been several interesting studies on it (if one is remotely prone to finding this **** interesting :) ).

Is a tidbit the same thing as a bit of tid?

I really dig the Foundry line, as a whole. Was driving in StP in the fall and came across a guy riding one. I had to roll down the passenger window and have a stop-light conversation with him, much to the chagrin of my wife, who was in between, in the passenger seat. He had one of the CF gravel-ish bikes with discs. It was awesome.

You may, and I would wager that your review would be as keenly accurate as those who have actually seen it.
