Still unseasonably mild in the NE USA. Time to go for another ride.

37° and occasional sprinkles here. Great day for riding!

Raining here - no chance of me going out in this. Time to fire up Zwift.

A couple of years ago I was cleaning out a 3rd floor lavatory drain (which wasn't clogged after all). I didn't realize the end of the snake wasn't attached to the reel and let it all out to the end. That thing literally flew down the pipe, all 25 feet of it. Talk about "snatching defeat from the jaws of victory"! So I had to have a plumber come out to look for it thinking it would screw up my drains. $200 later we never could find it in the system. It remains there to this day...or not.

Snake lubrication is key.

Spent Xmas hanging out with my dad. He does most of his riding on the Washington Secondary Bike Path these days. Apparently, he sees 2manybikes and Bailey out there quite a bit.

RPK79 12-27-15 10:10 AM

Got the Chinese cable ends in the mail yesterday.

Doing some bday maintenance on the ss. Had to clear coat two chips.

Isn't it kind of hard to get up hills with the chain wrapped around the bottom bracket?

I hope the instructions were in English. ;)

RPK79 12-27-15 10:39 AM

No instructions at all! In fact they came in the envelope loose.

There are a few nice paved paths in R.I. If one takes the Washington secondary path out to the end of the paved part, it turns to dirt, and goes three towns into Connecticut.
there are a few interesting bridges and another paved section. A perfect ride for a Cyclcross bike. There are other dirt trails connected to it as well. It Also intersects The R.I. north south trail. It is a paved, road, dirt, trail from the Ocean going north up to the Appalachian trail in Massachusetts You could spend days exploring. Google R.I. North South trail, and The trestle trail. Also Go to BIKE R.I.

No excuse for that. I would send them back with an angry letter. But you know how I am.

But if you do decide to keep them, you'd better count them. No telling how many short you may be.

If you see and old guy on one of these, that's my dad.

You really should refrain from referring to your lady that way.

Did a solo tempo ride ~ 55 miles. Beautiful weather to start, then getting into the low 80's. It's been in the upper 80's for a high, setting some local records for this time of year. Almost feels like summer.

:thumb: Always nice to squeeze in a dry ride just before the rain.

Hey RPK79, you may want to try some nail polish for those paint chips. It works well and it's easy to find a close match.

datlas 12-27-15 12:21 PM

I did a 39 mile recovery ride with a few club-mates. Part of the ride was on gravel. Possibly not coincidentally, I broke a rear spoke during the ride. I did the "wrap it around its neighbor" trick and rode the rest of the ride easy. That's my second broken spoke in the past month (different wheels). I wonder why. It's clearly not related to my wimpy power output.

Supposedly I am at 188 miles for the week, that's pretty good for me.

Doug28450 12-27-15 12:44 PM

It's been raining here since Christmas Eve. Additionally, the wind is blowing at about 30 mph.

RPK79 12-27-15 12:51 PM

I considered looking for a match, but a poor match would look worse than the chip so i just clear coated.

I'm 64

Heathpack 12-27-15 03:04 PM

Great climbing ride on the TT bike this morning. Something like 35 miles & 2000ish feet. Not bad on a TT bike. We have a wind advisory today, but it was calm when we went out so I kept my 60mm deep aero wheels on the bike.

I was having such a great time, thinking how comfortable I felt riding this bike which seemed so weird to me when I first got it. Then I almost got taken out by a crazy crosswind gust while descending at 40 mph. Not exaggerating, my front wheel was pushed 4 inches to the left by a maybe 35 mph gust. Somehow it didn't freak me out, I just corrected and didn't even come out of aero. Then a minute or two later, I was a little freaked out. Came up onto the horns to give it a think. ;)

Cut the ride short and headed home after that. But still it was a great ride.

When I got home, the house was full of hungry people. Really? Can you people not feed yourselves in my absence?! Just kidding, they were holding out for something homemade. They got a turkey pot pie.

<Extra credit question: guess what the Heathpack household had for Christmas dinner.>
