I wish I had the money to invest in both high-end coffee machines as well as cycling. Maybe one day...
BTW, Fuji_cyclist, any chance of me joining your team?

I love a nice strong Cafe Americano anytime. 3 shots or more is always a winner. I also like as my wife calls it my coffee sludge I make out of my little 4 cup drip maker.

Can anyone reccomend a good bean for making espresso with? I've tried the Starbuck's Espresso Roast, as well as the Gevalia (hey, I got a free drip coffee maker, it was worth it

If coffee would be bad for you I would be dead. It's basically the way I ingest H2O. I'm so resistant to caffeine that I drink my last cup just before bedtime.
I’m not too crazy about espresso, I had enough of them in my 40 years in Argentina but I am though very obsessive with the brewing of my coffee; If it sits in the coffeemaker more than 3 minutes it’s no good anymore… the sugar roasted on the beans caramelize and give it an awful taste.
One fact that might interest those with concerns about caffeine: Bold coffee has less caffeine than light coffee. Also cheap coffee like Folgers or the like has too much caffeine and it’s very diuretic – bad for cycling if you have to stop to pee too often.
Regards,
Pablo

For me it's Sumatran, ground as fine as powder, dripped into the carafe using filtered water. Never, ever anything in it, served with a flakey crossiant and fresh marionberry jam. Oh jeez, it's raining, better have another. Please DON'T pinch me.

I don't get it. Coffee is the foulest smelling drink made. I have had one cup of coffee my entire life and the only reason I had it was because I had gone 36 hours without sleep (for the second time in a week) in the navy and had to pull a midnight shift. Talk about nasty tasting. How the hell do you people drink that garbage?

Who here is is addicted? Fess up!
My parents are Italian immigrants. My mom and dad would always leverage a cup of espresso when we needed a ride out of the rural community we kids grew up in. I finally escaped that rural community in my 20s and ended up in another one right here in the middle of the Rockies. Go figure. I was a master at making espresso before it was cool in the US. Now I'm still making espressos. But the gear is much better ...not too much different than bike gear.
I did a lot of IT work for Starbucks over the summer. last year. I got one of those Saeco espresso makers with the foaming wand and a bur grinder to boot as a parting gift. Now I'm hooked. I can't leave for work without a home brewed Vanilla Latte ...extra hot. It's insane.
I even have a French Press for backpacking.
There, I admit it. I'm a drug user. A caffeine fiend. But how sublime it is.
