MOOTS Question
I just purchased a used MOOTS.
The sticker say "CR"
I called up MOOTS to find out the age of the bike.
The serial # on the bottom bracket was 55m6064.
The guy at MOOTS said the bike was made in 2005 and was a "Compact"
model... I asked why the sticker said "CR"...
He couldn't answer me.
Can somebody out there help me with this.
The bike has a straight top tube.
Thank you

I have a 2006 Moots Compact. The original decals had "Compact" on the top tube. I've since refreshed the decals with new Moots decals and the "Compact" decal wasn't available any longer. I suspect your Compact has new decals. My compact is a 57.5 and has a 6 degree top tube slope.

The bike should look exactly like mine.... BTW do you know if the TI used in 2006 is the same as today
Thank you

I bought it new in Sept 2006.
The 57.5cm size refers to the seat tube length. The ETT length is 57cm. The Ti used is 3/2.5 single gauge. I think I still have the 2006 Moots catalog. I'll post a picture of the specs and geometry if I find it.

Mine is a 2005 and the size is a 55M...I measured the ETT and it was 55.5
The Seat tube C-C is only 51 which is why the bike has a long seat post... If you measure you seat tube C-C I think you will find that it is not 57.5.
Thank you for the picture... my bike is the same except I have a MOOTS seat post and am looking for a MOOTS stem.

Moots uses their frame sizes as measured from center of BB to the top of the seat tube. And they still use this for their current frame sizes.

I took a tape measure and measured from the center of my BB to the top of my seat tube.
It was 51 cm. I did this twice and had my daughter confirm that my old eyesight wasn't failing.
My ETT did measure out at 55.5.
Can you please take an actual measurement of your bike... Although it is a larger frame I thinkg
you will find that C-C (bottom bracket to seat tube) is not 57.5.
Please do it and let me know.
We have the same model bike.... check out your serial # on the underside of the BB

You're right, ETT is 57cm and the ST is 53.5cm.
Here's a copy of the Compact geometry from the 2006 catalog.

I was wrong. Moots uses the ETT measurement for their frame size except for the 60 and 62cm frames.
My frame's ETT is 57cm and they call it a 57.5 frame size.

What kind of bike would you consider the compact....more or an endurance frame or a racer

The Compact is considered a race frame. It's called a compact because of the up-sloped top tube vs the straight top tube of the VaMoots.
