My fitter is offering a new ride-along fit service, in which he follows you on an electric bike & tweaks your fit based on watching you ride on the road (because what he sees on the trainer is not 100% relevant to what you do on the road).
He fits a lot of triathletes and was telling me how many of them don't really know how to ride a bike, he had no idea. They don't shift when they get to a hill or just ride straight into a pothole. Apparently lots of them ride solo, don't learn from other people. Or they ride mostly on the trainer. It was eye-opening for him, what he intended to be a fit service has kind of turned into mini-coaching sessions on the subject of "how to ride a bike."
So of course I'm thinking about doing it myself. Hopefully between Rio & the TDF he will not just be unavailable all summer.

Heading back to NOLA tomorrow to return my MIL home after a short visit with us to celebrate her 94th birthday. Amazing lady. Anyway I have a quandary I need help with. When we stop at French Press in Lafayette for lunch, what should I order? The choice is narrowed down to the blackened redfish po-boy, the fried shrimp and boudin po-boy, or the bacon, egg, cheese, and boudin sandwich on Texas Toast.
I am a boudin hater from way back, but when it is made right, wow, how one's opinion can change. My SIL the chef and I agree, if this is what boudin is supposed to be, then it is fine by us. Best I ever tasted.
The redfish po-boy is my go-to favorite. The egg sandwich is a new discovery that is crazy good. I have never had the fried shrimp and boudin po-boy, but my SIL tells me it is not to be missed.
Coin flipping time I think. No chance of splitting with Mrs. rpen to get a little of two items. She avoids the question by ordering the stuffed French toast. Yes, it is just what it sounds like.

Most excellent. Of course, the bones are part of it, and most I know have a story or two to tell, but it obviously never stopped you. Heck, don't feel bad about the looking down your nose at mere cyclists, especially during that time. You earned that right. Not saying it was totally correct, but again, it was well earned.
Regardless, my love of cycling existed before racing and it has thrived since. Like Queen says,
Bicycle bicycle bicycle
I want to ride my bicycle, bicycle (c'mon), bicycle
I want to ride my bicycle
I want to ride my bike
I want to ride my bicycle
I want to ride it where I like

We really were snobs. I can see where pro ball players get their feelings of entitlement. If everyone around you is telling you that you're great, you get like a spoiled brat.

What I've noticed is the way many ride with their knees sticking out forming a 'V" on every stroke cycle. They obviously have a poor fit. All of the trying to get low for aerodynamics is lost in their knee action as the knees try to miss the abdomen. The difference is striking when a properly fitted tri-rider approaches from the front - they look like a beautiful combination of man and machine. The V-pedalers - crap.

Watching the OJ Simpson special on ESPN last night it became clear that OJ was one of the entitled athletes.

Not my style. 'We are the champions' was their only song I had any use for, as we used to play it every time we won a softball championship back in the day.
