Has anyone rode a 2013 Trek 1.5? I'm looking into buying a used one for 500...i like the tiagra components, and it's a 62cm (I'm 6'5). Just looking to see if anyone can help me out on pros and cons of this bike and if that's a fair price.

Very solid bike for $500 as long as it fits and is in good shape.

"Good shape" depends on the buyer as well. Some things like new cables/gear adjustment/etc. could add to the cost quickly if its needed and you cant do it yourself.

However, if it doesnt fit, it doesnt matter how good of shape its in or how good of a deal it is.

But if fit is good and its in decent shape, $500 is a good deal for that bike and i would buy it in a heartbeat if in the market.

I wouldn't worry about cables, tires, and tubes. They aren't free but they are consumables and shouldn't be a factor in buying a bike which might last through several sets anyway.

Al frame, CF fork, Tiagra 10-speed .... and there probably aren't a lot of XXXXL frames on the market. Don't let him know you like it ... just scope it out and go "Hmmmm ... " a lot and tap stuff with a fingertip.

Bike retailed for like $1250 new, and the only drawback was the serviceable but heavy wheels .... same as any other bike pretty much.

Thanks for the info to both of you. Yes, I literally have only found that bike in a 62,everyrhing else is 58 and under. I think it will fit because I was able to try a new 62 1.1 and liked it. But didn't want to spend the 770 on claris if I can get a better bike used.
Would you go for a new 1.1 or a 2013 1.5?

I bought a 2011 1.5 for $400 on CL 2 years ago. Have put around 4,000 miles on it since. Main things I changed were the wheels & saddle but only recently (plus regular maintenance).

For $500 and 10-speed Tiagra ... assuming it FITS and everything is in decent working order .... I'd go for the older bike----I think.

I have no problem buying older bikes because I can do a little wrenching, and wouldn't get too upset if I needed to do a little fix here or there.

Claris is okay ... I have Claris shifters and derailleurs on my Cannondale .... but I have 10-speed Tiagra on my Raleigh and it offers a good deal more, IMO.

The frame is possibly the same design, just with different graphics ... i am sure it is probably the same carbon fork on both bikes ... According to an article I read, the 2012 was unchanged except for paint for 2013. Basically they built a good frame and just changed the decals and the parts selection from year to year, it seems.

Save the $200 for tires, tubes, cables, a saddle if the old one doesn't fit (it might) and wheels, eventually. Otherwise it's a pretty complete bike as is. No real need to upgrade.

Well... I ended up buying it! I took it for a ride and it fit me great. Way better than anything else I have tried (XL giant defy, 60cm trek 1.1, 61 cm specialized secteur)
I couldn't be happier, and all I can see that needs to be done is regripping the one handle that is a little loose. I'm going to look into diy but might take it in.

That's funny, my tape was loose too when I picked it up. It was the original Bontrager tape. I quickly replaced it with inexpensive SRAM tape.

Check out this video. He explains the "outside-in" versus "Inside-out" wrapping .... wrap it so that your natural motion tightens the tape.

Best explanation I have seen, and I went through quite a few videos to find the best.
