Ha. That's a northern thing. Blue and fescue and stuff like that. You ain't gonna cut no St. Augustine with one of those.

It's a Ryobi battery powered 20in mower. Charged the battery fully but the damn thing cuts off after 10-30 seconds of running no matter what. Just holding it in place with no load on it and the deck height at max, it'll just stop for no reason. Assuming that there is a short in it somewhere. Not feeling confident about an exchange for the same model.

How big is your lawn? If it's decent size that Ryobi thing isn't going to be effective.

Yeah, you just about need to take a machete to St. Augustine. I had an uncle with a lawn with St. Augustine that I used to cut from time to time.

I was pushing a power mower with no self-drive through St. Aug. one day and my mother was visiting and watching. She thought even just pushing it looked too hard. That afternoon she took me out and bought me a self-drive model.

I believe my uncle had a Snapper mower; gas powered. I don't think you can get those at Home Depot, though; only through an independent.

Scarbo 04-15-17 07:28 PM

Does Dan have St. Augustine? His lawn is thumbing its nose at that Ryobi electric. lol

LesterOfPuppets 04-15-17 07:28 PM

Walmart has Snappers.

Front lawn isn't that big, less than a 1/4 acre I'd think. Mixed types of grass, it should be easy enough for this thing to handle and it worked very well between cutouts. Got half the front done before I gave up in frustration.

Back yard is much bigger but mostly coated in pine needles so it doesn't require much mowing.

Gnarly indeed, Heathpack :) Thanks again Folks.

Back in the day, that type of mower was all we had. Pretty much sucked, because when I was old enough, it was my turn to mow the grass. When my younger brother became that same age, I still had to mow the lawn.

I tend to do that when getting prepped for all the EKG's I end up taking (3-4 year).

Thank you all. TT ended in the walk of shame. Hit a huge pothole in the middle of a downhill corner. It could have been spectacular but it ended my TT. Crit is next.

Bummer, at least you're in shape to continue the other events. Good luck.

You guys can have my share.

Oh yeah. I also hate chickpeas. I don't like the fast or the texture and they give me gas and the runs. Hard to eat Indian food without chickpeas.

You should really try some more indian stuff, IMO. About 1/3 of it is as you say (and that's what gringos like), IME. The rest is everything you say indian food is not. It's a big subcontinent, there's more variety there than you can imagine.

Dallas has a YUGE indian community. I could go to 5+ different indian restaurants and not see the same item on any of the large menus.

I first thought I hit so hard I dropped the chain, so I unraveled that, got it back on the rings, and took off. That's when I realized the there was a flat too. My 30 second guy that I passed still hadn't caught back up, so I think I was motoring. Weird, the hub also seems to be locked up, which is why the chain dropped. It's sort of like a fixed gear until I loosen the skewer, then it freewheels, so who knows what else I did. It's a DT 240, so unusual for a malfunction, unless you go four wheeling on a TT bike.

The crit, I turned myself inside out, which was the goal. Google Norm Alvis. He's the fellow that likes to beat up on us little old Cat 3's :) Still alive, so it was a wonderful day.

Some carbon fiber for you all.

Yeah, never buy ryobi, ever, for any reason. Total junk.

Depends on the music.

I lucked out and got a pass from mrs datlas to go and do club's recovery ride today. It's sunny with temps in the 60's this morning.

Happy Easter to those who observe it.
