My wife thanks everyone for all of the well wishes. It was both a semi-letdown and a success. Turns out that we had some hellacious wind on the Prairie so we left the group at 6 miles and detoured into a local town for wind cover before heading back to the car. It was a success in that it was her first ride in 4 weeks and at least she got 13.6 miles.
At first she was somewhat dismayed but after we left the group, we just puttered along on the tailwind and had some quality time together. she did admit that she probably won't be able to go out with the trike-girls tomorrow as it's supposed to be even windier and she does have some soreness from today's ride. |

Addiction Club ride this morning. I took topslop1 out to the country. Bonus points if you can tell which picture(s) has an ass in it.

Windy club ride today. Felt good until the last couple miles when I started to get some calf cramps and had to back off a little bit. We had 16 riders which made the windy conditions more bearable with taking turns at the front. It was a ton of fun.

What a treat to go out and just tool around, with no concern whatsoever for speed. Test riding the Letour Luxe. What a wonderful ride it would be with decent tires. I have a set of open paves waiting for me in VA. Might be just the ticket. VeloVol. I discarded the second layer, before leaving, and was only chilly when I stopped.

Kudos to Mrs. Trainsnorter.

datlas is just jelly cause he doesn't have a bike laden with space-age technology and upgraded with custom-machined widgets. http://i771.photobucket.com/albums/x...4A2ACC168F.jpg |
Alright, I'm back.
First things first, no friction, indexed shifting. Still, definitely need more practice with it as I got dropped while being in too big of a gear and not being able to figure out how to shift quick enough. :o That race is absolute torture. I made the initial split up the first hill and I was riding with the big boys and feeling good, but then I got dropped in the smaller intermediate hill as I just couldn't get into my small chainring and I suck at mashing. After that I was waiting for the pack to catch me at some point, but only a group of three did. The four of us rode pretty well together until two of them got dropped on the flats I am not sure how. Two of us kept going and eventually picked up one more. On the second lap we agreed to not go crazy on the hills and stay together, but as soon as we hit the first hill the one we had picked up took over. I wasn't too worried since I knew the two of us would catch him on the flats, but then my partner cramped on the second hill and dropped on the side of the road. I thought maybe I should stay and help but decided not to (race and everything.) After that I was basically all on my own for the rest of the race, until a few miles to go when a group of three caught up to me. I hopped on their train and outsprinted them to the line (sprinting while seated like a boss/fred.) I have no idea how I finished, thinking somewhere between 15th-20th. Now I'm totally toast but I still need to go buy supplies to prepare the cat food. I think towing that trailer is going to hurt more than the race. I love that race. |
I did get a shout out at the start of the race for having the coolest bike and kit, so I guess I'll take my victories where I can.

Way to go, PepeM.
Race anyway and then move to France. Rescue some cats in between. You are living the high life IMO. :) |

But it is fun to drive. If I were to get a fast motorized thing again, it would have to be another sportbike. I recall racing a Corvette on a GSXR years ago. Such a bad idea. Ok, maybe I'll stick with bicycles... |

That sounds awesome.
Are you saying they're downtube indexed shifters? EDIT: Well, the right one is. The left one is friction. |
