Possibly... :innocent:

Hey WhyFi how was the riding in my neck of the woods?

I'm sure that I could have fit a few rides in, but we were out and about in the mornings a little earlier than we have been in the past, so I wasn't as stir-crazy as usual. Also, I paid a little more attention as we drove around - it's astounding how much Williamsburg caters cars and neglects walking and cycling. Every road outside of the Colonial/William & Mary area is 45mph with 6" shoulders, with the exception of a few generous 18" shoulders designated as bike lanes.

Good trip overall, though. Unfortunately, the family friends came down with flu-like symptoms and we couldn't meet up with them at the Air and Space, but we still made the trip up ourselves. It makes me even more glad that we left the meet-up as a surprise, because it probably would have been a massive bummer for the boy if he would have known that they had to back out.

seedsbelize We were talking about Ramblers recently. Ever see one of these? This car is in a driveway in a town near me. It looks pristine and the plate is current but I've never seen it on the road. Rambler Scrambler.

I too have a subscription, but of late it won't play, even with an ip blocker and adblock turned off. Until 8, there were a number of live streams on youtube, and then it all went away. Guess I'll watch the end, later, on youtube. Living in Mexico is not all fun and games.

No ads in my NBC Sports Gold.

She thinks it's great advice. We're heading out in a couple hours. I'll report back if the captain sustains any injuries.

Grasping at straws. Only in the last month have I had issues with it. It just locks up. I can't complain to the management, because, in reality, I'm cheating. I have been able to watch the NBA playoffs in similar fashion, in the past.

Yep, it's a 1969 Scrambler. If you google Rambler Scrambler, you'll see a bunch of images. Here's one on eBay:

AMC seemed to go with the red white and blue scheme a lot. Penske Matador's in Nascar, and the Javelin's in Trans Am. The Scrambler, and that weird "The Machine", based on a Rebel or the ones off the top of my head.

I had a 1969 Rambler. Not the fancy one. Sears aftermarket air conditioning. Served me well. It was eventually replaced after grad school by an Audi Fox and then a Volvo 244. We thought we were so smart. It goes without saying there were many days I wished I had the Rambler back. Man, those two foreign cars sucked.

First ride in two weeks. Stop me if you've heard this one - I've found out that if you don't exercise, you loose fitness. Crazy stuff.

I'm actually looking forward to two consecutive days off the bike. I'll be ready again before those two days pass though.

seedsbelize 04-09-17 10:51 AM

I have some wrenching to do in the meantime.

36 miles today, felt amazingly good on the bike all things considered. The Mt. Doom mailbox to mailbox segment in 9:35. My record on that climb was like 10 years ago @ 6:25 or so, I'd be happy to crack 8 minutes. My pal Joe did it in 5:25, he was like 39 or 40 when he set that mark, I was closer to 50 years old. Joe was an elite high school runner (sub 4:10 mile, probably the best cross country runner in the history of Orange County high school athletics) who got a full ride to some big Division 1 university, so I suppose finishing one minute down on that segment to a guy like that doesn't suck, plus I was 10 years older.

That segment is one mile long, 380 vertical feet of gain, average gradient is 7% or so, three steeper sections are 18% for stretches of 20-100 meters.

I know that by mixing English and metric systems above is throwing quite the curveball to the 41 Fred Intelligentsia, but I figure you'll all enjoy the challenge of sorting that all out.
