I have a neighbor that has a herd of goats. Never has to mow :p. I've thought about getting a herd (flock? gaggle?) of guinea pigs myself, but with three acres and a pond I'm a little afraid it would turn into more of a gremlins situation than anything.

Worst feeling. Missed a call just a few minutes ago from the company I interviewed with on Wednesday. Called back but couldn't get through, and they didn't leave a message. I'm now obsessively over-analyzing the timing and lack of message.

Here's my take on jobs: many times the ones you don't wind up with turns out to be a good thing. If you've got the chops to do the job and they don't see that, well it was never going to be a great place to work. If you don't have the chops, you would've always felt like you were skating by. Eventually you find the right job and that feeling is mutual and it's a win-win for everybody. So however this one goes down, it will ultimately be fine. This is the nature of life. Try to enjoy your weekend. |

Reminds me, we used to go grocery shopping at "Super Fresh" which I really did not like, so I called it "Stupid Fresh."
Very mature, eh? I think it's Safeway now. That or Hannaford, which I call Haffanord. Guess it runs in the family. |

How about ponies? Pretty docile, without inordinate predation or breeding habits.

the problem with a flock of goats is that they just don't keep the grass down. they eat everything. the fences have to be good or they'll ringbark trees and destroy your garden as well.

Most ponies I have met have delusions of grandeur and are mean as heck. Like dogs (with the exception of Heathpack's doglet, of course), usually the smaller they are the nastier they can be.
Doglet has it too. She once attacked a swarm of honeybees. Mostly she is chill. But every now & then, she suddenly gets all sparky and decides she's gonna take <insert some random thing> down! |

Aw too frustrating. It's gonna be a long weekend now. You will have to ride your brains out, into that stupid non-thinking deeply-tired kind-of fuzzy place. :)

That would drive me crazy, too, but it's not your fault. I'm guessing things will work out.
To compound it somewhat, a friend also interviewed on the same day and isn't responding to my question about whether he got a call. I guess I'll just have to be patient! Nothing I can do at this point. |

Nothing I can do at this point. You have done everything you can already. What happens next is what happens next. This stuff truly is not to be resisted or fretted over, it's the fabric of life. Now you just wait for the outcome. The zen comes from recognizing that it's the flow of life that's important and the qualitative aspects of what you do in life & how you go about doing it. The details that seem so important now in the end will be unimportant. http://i771.photobucket.com/albums/x...C64F863E4E.jpg |
Dan, **** all that zen ****. That's all nothing more than dispassionate drivel rendered from somebody who's got it made in life. Rage against the dying of the light. Shake your Beethovenian fist at the heavens. Get good and drunk. Make passionate love to your wife (uh, better do that before you get drunk come to think of it) and then hope for good news on Monday morning.
That would be my advice to you. |
I rode this around the neighborhood in the dark with no helmet this evening... was just rolling out to test out a new set of cables I put on and it put such a grin on my face I circled the block for 40 minutes with a huge grin on my face and my hair blown back (what there is of it).
Steel my be heavy and not particularly stiff or aero or whatever... but maybe there is something to it being real. https://dgtzuqphqg23d.cloudfront.net...-2048x1536.jpg |
I vote for Heathpack's method. Beautifully presented.

Well, semillas, suppose we let Dan decide on his course of action, shall we??? :D
