Worst feeling. Missed a call just a few minutes ago from the company I interviewed with on Wednesday. Called back but couldn't get through, and they didn't leave a message. I'm now obsessively over-analyzing the timing and lack of message.

Aw too frustrating. It's gonna be a long weekend now. You will have to ride your brains out, into that stupid non-thinking deeply-tired kind-of fuzzy place. :)

Here's my take on jobs: many times the ones you don't wind up with turns out to be a good thing. If you've got the chops to do the job and they don't see that, well it was never going to be a great place to work. If you don't have the chops, you would've always felt like you were skating by. Eventually you find the right job and that feeling is mutual and it's a win-win for everybody. So however this one goes down, it will ultimately be fine. This is the nature of life. Try to enjoy your weekend.

Seriously, in modern day America, we harbor an illusion that we can "control" things. This is fundamentally untrue.

You have done everything you can already. What happens next is what happens next. This stuff truly is not to be resisted or fretted over, it's the fabric of life. Now you just wait for the outcome. The zen comes from recognizing that it's the flow of life that's important and the qualitative aspects of what you do in life & how you go about doing it. The details that seem so important now in the end will be unimportant.

I rode this around the neighborhood in the dark with no helmet this evening... was just rolling out to test out a new set of cables I put on and it put such a grin on my face I circled the block for 40 minutes with a huge grin on my face and my hair blown back (what there is of it).

Steel my be heavy and not particularly stiff or aero or whatever... but maybe there is something to it being real.
