Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I hope you get to go to Canada, as that's actually a track that cars can race on.
When that DW12 came out a few years ago I remember thinking it was ugly as sin and the racing would be crap. It's still ugly, but those motors sound far better than the turds in F1 and every Indy since '12 has been great. Most importantly, it's SO much safer than the car it replaced.

I agree. The racing in Indycar is the best on the planet right now, and the safety is on par or better than anything else out there. The safety crew is the best in the world, and there isn't even a close second to them. They have saved a lot of lives.

When those Honda's ventilated, it was quite the noise.

It was funny when the winner passed 2nd and 3rd with around 20 to go. It was so slick, they barely caught it. Goodyear finally said... Amazing

My favorite shot from the Austin Fire Museum. It's actually just two rooms so far, but they're hoping one day to take over the whole original Fire Station #1 and do it properly.

Beginners ride two laps and have a shorter climb, everyone else does three laps and a longer fire road climb.

I walked anything dicey-looking to me and rode some of it. Not sure I'll be racing it this year, although my main tour guide friend thought it would be no problem to get up to speed. My other excellent-advisor-former-MTB-instructor friend kind of felt like I should take my time and not worry about racing until I felt comfortable, everyone develops confidence at their own speed.

The really nice thing about this course though is that its in a park right in the middle of town. So its easy to get to and just ride the bits I feel ok about and gradually add the harder and harder stuff over time. The other difference is that most other singletrack we have is much longer and faster- it will be down a mountain. This is just a rollercoaster course that is all ups and downs, so it doesn't all come at you in rapid fire succession. Its nice too that there are plenty of people around to call 911 if I crash, so I can just sometimes go out solo and figure it out on my own without worrying about holding anyone else up.

Overall it was fun though and the company was great. Really appreciate my friends sometimes, they didn't get in too much of a ride watching me get on and off the bike saying things like "yikes" and "I don't think so".

Not very long but you can ride multiple loops of course.

PedalFest is four Thursday nights and then a 3-4 week break and then four more Thursday nights. They just finished the first 4 weeks so are on hiatus for around a month. All kinds of classes and lots of kids racing. It's a fun vibe. A couple of food trucks and some vendors and you can see a fair bit of the racing and also walk out onto the course.

You must be visiting Robert in Houston or something, because Phoenix won't be seeing any humidity any time soon.

I was confused by Central Park on Strava and assumed people were in new York.

I didn't connect the dots with the LBS email mentioning a stand at the event yesterday either, lol.

Mrs. Pcad got thinner, I think she lost like 15 lbs. that means between the two of us we lost 15.12 lbs. in the past four weeks.

Did I mention we had a storm last night?

Fortunately I was nimble enough not to let this road block derail my cycling activity

It cleared up for an evening ride. A bit cool for my tastes, though. No sweat angel.

Went on a route I haven't taken in months and saw three new developments underway.
