I think that if you own a Corvette that goes without saying.

So I just cracked 2300 miles for 2017 which is rather pathetic by Pcad's standards, but probably still more than a lot of you 41 fatsos have managed to ride so far. My year is effed however, I'll have to have shoulder surgery around July 10-15 which will probably knock me off real bicycles for 5-6 weeks (I'll be in a sling). Worse, no Corvette driving (stick shift). Worse still, no guitar playing. Oh well. I am trying to learn to play piano, I can tinkle the ivories with my left hand for a month.

But I do like the rear of the car better now that I murdered out the exhaust tips (painted them black).

Plus now that Mrs. Pcad is getting foxier every day, why even go there? As I often tell her, if I wanted to get laid I never would have gotten married, but why not? I think that may be how we wound up with Pcadette 23 years ago.

I've been researching this, and if a car isn't a pure sports coupe regardless of bhp (i.e. the Porsche 911, Corvettes, Ferrari 385 etc. are true sports car coupes, cars like the BMW M4 is just a coupe, the only true sports car couple Audi makes is that exotic $100K+ model, that's very fast) can hang with my stock Z-51 Stingray on a race track. They may be faster in a straight line but for some reason pure sports cars like the C7 and the 911 corner more effectively and turn faster lap times on any track you wish to name.

I could never drive anything that slow.

Me too. It can be weirdly unpredictable, both mighty days and puny days.
Sometimes it makes sense though. I'm feeling GREAT on the bike, there's no stopping me, I am Wonder Woman. Then we turn around and I realize: tailwind! Doh I've been caught by that one more times than I can count.

I drove an M4 coupe before I drove my car. I loved it, beautiful car, but I went with the C7 for a couple of reasons. The 3000 mille 2016 used M4 I drove was about the same price I paid for the new C7. It was tempting, but I really wanted the targa top so I can drive it open air most of the summer. The other thing is that all these competing kraut cars have these turbo motors, and frankly that small block Corvette V8 is just so superior in every way. That includes the Porache Cayman S which is the best of those teutonic pretenders, I drove that, GREAT car. Still the new Cayman's engine was weaker sauce than the chevy small block. Kind of hard to beat the motor in my car.

Finally got a chance to get out with a couple of friends to ride the PedalFest course. Its some not-too-hard-for-actual-mountain-bikers-but-a-little-daunting-for-me single track and then a fire road climb/descent that's no biggie. Beginners ride two laps and have a shorter climb, everyone else does three laps and a longer fire road climb.
I walked anything dicey-looking to me and rode some of it. Not sure I'll be racing it this year, although my main tour guide friend thought it would be no problem to get up to speed. My other excellent-advisor-former-MTB-instructor friend kind of felt like I should take my time and not worry about racing until I felt comfortable, everyone develops confidence at their own speed.
The really nice thing about this course though is that its in a park right in the middle of town. So its easy to get to and just ride the bits I feel ok about and gradually add the harder and harder stuff over time. The other difference is that most other singletrack we have is much longer and faster- it will be down a mountain. This is just a rollercoaster course that is all ups and downs, so it doesn't all come at you in rapid fire succession. Its nice too that there are plenty of people around to call 911 if I crash, so I can just sometimes go out solo and figure it out on my own without worrying about holding anyone else up.
Overall it was fun though and the company was great. Really appreciate my friends sometimes, they didn't get in too much of a ride watching me get on and off the bike saying things like "yikes" and "I don't think so".

There are often club "beginner days" for a trail or even just a section of trail that basically just do this. Ride along in a group to a tech feature, then have the expert go over the approach, lines, etc... and then everybody attempt it until they get it or quit. Then move on to the next one. There are also known cool members of the club you can always hit up for this kind of thing in a one on one ride.

@LAJ @jtaylor996 I hope you guys watched or are going to watch the 500 today. Utter insanity, that race is not good for my heart. I need to go in person one of these days.

The M4 is not very close. The M4 GTS is, on some tracks it's marginally slower, on a couple marginally faster, that's a $150K car and you can't really buy one, they're all sold out. The C7 eats regular M4 coupes like scoobie snacks on the track.

Long weekend with no riding, here. Bike out of jail tomorrow, hopefully. I guess this is what a "rest week" is.
Put up the security cameras this morning. Now I get notifications on my phone and watch every time a car drives by my house. That's not annoying at all... I'm going to have to relocate one of them completely to a less ideal place to make sure no road is in the view at all.
The blink cameras are at the right price point, but the app and software has issues. I remember 15 years ago working with open source seccam software on linux where you could mask out regions from the motion detection. That would be a fantastic feature to have right about now.

You know, it's quite possible the sports car weenies over at corvetteforums.com are more pathetic than you freds. Still, the median income there is probably far higher, so they have that going for them. Trying to talk to you idiots about sports car crap is the apogee of faii. Let's start with the basics. In the photo below the real Ferrari is on the right, the White Trash Ferrari is on the left.

Funny side effect of lugging a big camera and bigger lens to a triathlon is being mistaken for a pro. Multiple times.
Plus side is, AG's new fledgling team loves the pics, and I actually got a few decent ones of her.
