It's a good helmet, gets great reviews, and the MIPS is an added safety feature. The only major downside is weight.
If you don't mind MIPS and a year old model, they are on sale for about half off

I bought one and 3 weeks later I crashed at @16mph. The helmet was cracked and I was able to ride home after regaining my senses. I immediately bought another and Giro gave me discount.

Bikes: An old orange one for dirt, and for the other stuff: a white one, a kinda mint green one, and a black one.
I've had somewhere around 10 helmets, and the Giro Synthe MIPS is far and away the best lid I have had the pleasure of plopping onto my enormous dome.

I had one. I didn't really like it. The rubber pieces that connect the helmet cage to the Mips system created two hard spots that were uncomfortable on my head. I was able to glue some old excess helmet pads to them to add some padding and improve comfort.
I ended up crashing and breaking the helmet. I replaced it with a non-Mips Synthe, which is much more comfortable.

I'm still amazed that there is no scientific testing by anyone that indicates that MIPS is beneficial. I'm not saying that it's not, but . . . with ALL the testing agencies / universities working full-time on helmet testing, it just seems strange to me.

it's been tested in cycling, hockey, skiing and is moving into the american football world as well.
in fact, of the sports i participate in that require helmets for safety (cycling & hockey) all of my gear has mips integration.

there's been several articles and tests that have shown it does have a significant ability to reduce the types of head impacts and motion that cause serious damage.

It's been sold and marketed extremely well. Amazingly well, given the lack of scientific test results.
But can you link a single scientific test? As of a couple months ago, there still were none. Giro, which bought an ownership interest in the technology, acknowledged as much.
I know of none since then. If you know of a scientific test, please post a link.

I know of atleast two scientific tests ... search is your friend.

Again, I'm not saying MIPS isn't helpful. I'm just intrigued by the apparent lack of scientific peer-reviewed research.

First, with very few exceptions (think Zika), it takes at least 2-3 years for the entire process (initiation of the research project through publication in a peer-reviewed journal), and MIPS is still newish. Second, someone has to pay for the research, which in most cases will be the manufacturer -- a reasonable parallel might be drug companies funding research on their products. Less than an ideal circumstance, but an increasing reality.
I think there is increasing amount of reliable evidence suggesting that MIPS offers additional protection for certain types of impacts.

The regular Synthe has saved my noggin three times, and I have the MIPS Synthe now. I'm a fan.
