One's got a broken rib that punctured his lung. This SAME crack struck last year on a group ride I was on, breaking an arm (I had to call the ambulance on that one), although I was not involved.

Time to fix that sucker, already.

What is that? Texas' "Grand Canyon?"

When I lived in Dallas I used to ride the roads down near Seagoville and beyond. I say "ride" but in reality it was more like constant bunny hopping stuff like that. lol

I had every intention of making it to work by 9 a.m. I failed.

I love riding in 50-65° - I can just throw on a vest and but it's cool enough that I don't need to bother with bringing a second 'just in case' water bottle on rides less than 40-50 miles.

But nope. Did it for 2-3 weeks and just had zero desire for the stuff. Still avoiding energy drinks, but coffee just doesn't work for me.

I can drink stupid heavy calorie stuff like mochas every day.

Maybe I just like calories?

Oh hai!

I love riding 80F-85F. Instead we have this garbage.

Let me guess--it's 75F in Syracuse.

I was too. Can't stand even the smell of it now.

The cooler weather has been like a cheat code for the past two weeks.

My newly acquired 2nd cup is frequently room temp. Nescafe. It's made from robusta beans.

More seasonally appropriate temperatures today. It's about 55 with an expected high of 60.

rjones28 10-25-17 08:34 AM

Still warmer than K-town. :)

No pic but I saw a common black hawk on the morning constitutional. A rare sighting this far from surface water. A week or so ago, I saw a small flock of white ibises, another odd one. Things are moving around this time of year.

At first glance, I thought: pie flute!

Nope, clearly not that.

Thank you. I didn't want to be the only one to admit that.

Also, gotta give a kudos to Wayne at thetouringstore.com. (I know, I know, wrong forum. This is how nice the experience was, that I'm willing to give a shout out in the 41 for a pleasant experience buying a handlebar bag.) It was like walking in to a friendly mom and pop store, just on the internet.

I’ve saved it for those special “chapeau” posts.

Trsnrtr 10-25-17 08:59 AM

Yes, my new avatar is from a pic taken in Croatia three years ago on a tandem tour.

When datlas does his yearly patch party, that tool will come in handy.

I gotta find a ramen place around here and try that stuff out. Looks good.

LAJ 10-25-17 09:27 AM

It's kind of like rolling out pie dough, I suppose. Light the glue, put the patch on, then roll it out.

Glad it wasn't worse!

The guy who got stuck in the crack on Sat was banged up (nothing major), but he was mid pack in a tight group. The guy with the punctured lung was further back.

The crack guy had gone wide to avoid the larger crack in the picture. I would have bunny hopped it, but that still wouldn't have saved me from a group pileup. But you know what saves me from that crap? Be so damn slow I'm off the back anyways :innocent:
