Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Some good times at Valmont bike park today.

That beam on the top of the garage wall; is that there special to support a snow load? And is the rest of the roof built similarly beefy?

No. It's a normal looking roof and those beams don't support much.

Most people don't need a TT bike. Pinning on a number, you need a TT bike. I bought an aero frame to satisfy my urge.

I know. I might need to take my tri-friend to the woodshed in a du sometime, though. Plus, fast is fun.

The Cinelli was great in the bike park yesterday. Had a sweet endo off a rock that bent my shifter in. Kid thought that was funny. My back hurts today.

Yesterday, on an open, flat 2.5 mile stretch, it felt great to maintain table-flat HR, cadence and speed. Then I got home and saw that the KOM on that segment, a kid with good genes (his twin sister rides for Rally) and a TT bike, had managed almost 10mph faster. That ****'s both humbling and awesome.

Getting fast is hard. Still working on that part of the equation.

Off to Candellas to work on that. Then another clinic with Apex Coaching. Each time I go, I get something good out of these.

Sad to see all the old R3SLs are finally sold from R&A. The all white 2008 CSC one, the full 2009 bike they would have stripped to sell the frameset, the Soloist Carbon. If I had money to burn, I would have bought another one and hung it on the wall for later use.

And a Time RXRS. They don't have my size anymore and my attempts to get someone else to buy one has so far failed.
