Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

They're having such a joyous time in the disk brake thread, a topic everybody can sink their teeth into.

Surprisingly no hostilities. Does that mean mod head-banging has paid off?

Personally I haven't ruled out northern Arizona as our retirement site, because I love the snow.

Yeah but at least you can tell him to shut up and answer the damn question . . . . . . . . . . . . . when she's not around, of course.

in unrelated news, the person that performed my root canal clearly wasn't a BF member. She offered me percocet for the pain. I had to tell her that Doug's don't do drugs.

The scheduled TT for Saturday has a high of 24. I may be wrong, but even a gold plated marigold jacket likely won't help much

Looking foolish and freezing your ass off will surely keep you from noticing the hurt, won't it?

I've been operating at about a 1,000 cal/day deficit for the last two weeks or so, so I had a cheat treat - some donut holes. Holy sugar bomb. They were good, but I could probably be happy with half the amount next time.

Had my annual Medicare wellness checkup on Monday and my doctor ended with a question of whether I had any concerns. I told her that I thought I needed a weight therapist since I think about food all of the time and am planning my next meal while eating a meal. Her advice? Read a book or something when the urge to eat comes on. Really? Like she doesn't think a person can eat while reading?!

Since it was sub-freezing we only had 7 riders today. Still, it was a blast. 100% fun. I was worried that my bottles would freeze, but I used hot water and NUUN as antifreeze, and it worked!

He was awesome. The filing location for their houses was along the southern coast of Spain. Agua Amara, IIRC.

Anyone here (I'm looking at you @rjones28) have experience with the Spec Power saddles? The Toupe is certainly good enough for me outside, but I still can't quite dial out all of the numbness on the trainer. I think that it's mostly a problem when I'm 'on the rivet,' so to speak. For harder efforts, I often tilt my hips forward slightly and slide forward a little bit. On the Toupe, it seems to be just enough that my sit bones aren't quite supported. I'm wondering if the shape of the Power, which seems to be a little less pear-shaped, would be a little more conducive to that kind of movement. At the same time, it also looks to be a little shorter.
