Raced today with an hour-record-holder, ironwoman, State crit champ, and three state TT champs. Came in third. Raced well. Good day. Happy.
Also took Puppy Love for an hour walk. Made more peanut butter. Conducted three hours of phone interviews. Currently vegging on the sofa watching Sneaky Pete.

Vain, But Lacking Talent
Besides the ride with Dan, I only had the chance to get out for one other ride in VA. But it was an outdoor ride, it got me out of my in-laws' house and provided me with some much needed alone time. Oh, and I bought my camera, something I've resolved to do much more this year.
*****in' bike by the way.

Riding a bicycle everyday is one thing. Building stone walls is quite another, exertion wise. I may yet awaken fully today, but prolly not before my hoped for bike ride.

@WhyFi you have a Sony A-something, right? How did you carry it with you on your ride? I've been wondering if I can find a little handlebar bag or something to bring my bigger camera with me if I know a ride is going to be particularly scenic.

I have the smallest Kata 3N1 backpack (Kata has evidently been bought out by Manfrotto - it looks like this is the direct descendant of my bag, though it looks a little larger than mine - https://www.manfrotto.us/pro-light-c...-dslr-csc-c100). It can be configured as a left- or right-handed sling pack or as a conventional 2-strap backpack. I'm still feeling it out, but if I'm going to be stopping frequently and I'm using a smaller/lighter lens, I've been using it as a sling so that I can quickly access the camera. With a bigger lens (I took a 80-200mm tele with me the other day), I've been setting it up conventionally so that the weight is more secure. With my smaller lenses, it's overkill in terms of carrying volume, but it's light and stays put, so I don't really mind.
I honestly don't know if I'd like having even a smallish handlebar bag for the camera. Ease of access would be nice, but it would probably grate on me to have the extra weight flopping around.

Two pieces of cycling clothing I only recently acquired and can't understand how I previously lived without: fleece lined tights, and a thin neck gaiter.
I know, I know. Everyone has tights. I didn't, I'd just ride in bibs with leg warmers and live with the frozen nether regions. I got a relatively cheap pair on Amazon recently, and they make a huge difference when worn over bibs on days under ~42 degrees. The neck gaiter thing too, I had a skiing gaiter that was fleece and too warm so I'd never wear it. I just got a nice thin one that's more like a bandana, and wore it this morning. Perfect. Didn't overheat my neck, but did provide a bit of comfort for my face when it was windy and I hadn't warmed up yet.

I went out on the World Voyageur this afternoon. My last (for the moment) completely old school bike. The handlebars are quite narrow--somewhere in the 30s, and the frame is 58 cm. The rest are either 60 or 62. It was just so compact feeling. Like riding a toy bike. I can likely get used to it, with practice. It has those nice chrome head tube lugs and socks, front and back. Hands down the prettiest bike in the fleet.

First rush hour commute in the dark for a while. Pretty ugly, especially wrong-way cyclist approaching head-on. I have been too much of a roadie to consider putting anything on my helmet, but a 360° amber flasher would be very useful.

Talk to me about knee warmers. No matter how happy I remain, my knees still suffer in the wintertime. I took another Naprosyn tab an hour or so ago. Do they come in sizes? The warmers, not the tabs.
