Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Roads are all dry here. All of a sudden, bikes everywhere. I went to the bike path, just to see what it was like. Now I remember why I stay away from there most of the time. Traffic jams at all the intersections. Pedal - coast pedal- coast......

Thanks.

Got another email telling me that the dog bolted through a gate despite an alleged electric fence. Police and animal control showed up and got all the pertinent info.

Being an owner of dogs who are quite difficult to keep inside the fence, I can relate. We have stone walls, which they simply climb over, lined, inside, with woven wire fence and barbwire above, and they still get out. We've begun closing the three of them inside the house when we both leave.
Hoping for a good outcome on all fronts.

And there is something about dogs and bicycles. I have lots of experience from both viewpoints.

No snow left on the roads. Still too cold for the casual crowd, but they're dusting off their bikes and bringing them to the shop for service.

The last few rides, my Propel has been creaking continuously. Subtly, but continuous. I hear it whether I'm pedaling or coasting. I stopped yesterday and checked the frame for cracks and could find nothing. Totally perplexed.

I get home from the ride and walk into the house with my helmet on and I noticed that I could still hear it. Wut? It turns out my Giro Synthe is creaking with even the slightest movement.

Since it has never been crashed, I assume that riding through the cold and rain has washed out any natural oils or, the styrofoam is breaking down. I have another identical Giro in a different color of the same age and it doesn't make the creaking noises.

In depth inspection to come.
