Yes. Part of a cross country trip from Seattle to Bar Harbor, ME. No ice, as you can see from the first photo. The visitor center at the pass was still almost completely buried in snow. It was actually pretty warm at lower elevation. Even at the pass it wasn't all that cold. Snow was melting so the road was wet. The day we arrived was warm and sticky, so a few of us jumped into Lake McDonald to wash off because there are no showers at the campgrounds on the west side of the park. The water was bitterly cold as the lake is fed by melting snow. Jumped in, got out, soaped up with CampSuds and jumped back in to rinse off. We had to hang out an extra day to wait for the pass to open.
I was back there the following year during a solo tour from Seattle to Cortez, CO. Rode up the west slope to the pass and back down. On the flatter section heading back to camp a black bear ambled across the road about 60' in front of me and into some tall grass. Since I couldn't see where it had gone, I and an oncoming car that had stopped switched lanes for a bit so it could act as a barrier in case the bear came back the other way.

In the past 3 weeks, I’ve had two timeshare trades go through and I rented another week out for a little bit of profit. So, major travel is set for 2019:
1. April- Carmel CA + either Earthdogging and Yosemite OR Santa Cruz, CA for mtb. Carmel will be road biking
2. June- Santa Fe, in an Airbnb using my rental proceeds. I’m racing two TTs in Albuquerque and then mtb-ing for a week in Santa Fe. Puppy Love too.
3. Sept- Tahoe, mountain biking and a conference
4. Thanksgiving- Sedona, mountain biking
Plus a few scattered weekend trips- Earthdogging in Sacramento in Feb, road riding and wine in Paso Robles in March, mountain bike clinic in Mammoth in Aug, Car race/show at Laguna Seca in Aug, and probably a bunch of weekends in Big Bear.
Local commitments- 13 TTs, 2 Earthdog events, 1 more field trial, 1 hunt performance test. My dance card is getting full. 50% of weekends through 2019 already have something scheduled. Crazy.
No plans on the boat, but we are giving the charter company one shot at brokering a sale before we formally list it on the open market. They’re showing it to four prospective buyers next week. If none of them turn out to be serious, we’ll start the process of selling it the normal way, with a broker listing.

Pretty much every day from Iowa to the Ohio border was very hot and humid. It was over 100 the day we stayed in Dyersville, IA. No one rode outside of town to see the "Field of Dreams" field. In IL we rode a century in 100 degree heat. 106 was the high in Huntington, IN (Home town of Dan Quayle.) A couple of us got rooms. The forecast low in Fletcher Lake, IN was 85 with high humidity and no breeze. I slept naked with my tent fly off. Draped my sleeping bag over my crotch so as not to offend.

Thanks. It's fun, except when it's not fun. Things like cold, wet weather, mosquito-infested campgrounds and extreme heat can ruin a good time. Our first night in MN was at a campground that had lots and lots of mosquitoes. When I hit the sack they were settled on the mesh of my tent as if they were waiting for me to have to get out to take a leak. When I finally did, a couple of them got in and were buzzing around my ears. The next morning they were flying in my face as I was trying to eat my cereal. We could not get out of that place fast enough. That afternoon, when I unpacked my tent, I noticed several spots of blood on the white portion of the tent body. I was scratching my head then realized they had been caused by mosquitoes being crushed when I rolled up my tent that morning.

You don't set out to do epic, they happen, and you realize how epic, once you look back.
I'm not into touring either, but enjoy the heck out of reading and hearing about others that do it. Well done on all your adventures.

I've only gotten to do a few local bike camping trips, but they are always a blast.

I did the zwifting again last night. I have discovered that even though I really suck at it, sustained climbs are actually preferable to lots of short punchy hills. You get to have solid blocks of suffering.
I did the mountain route, but skipped the radio tower climb which is just too much at my current watts/kg. As it is, I am only averaging like 6-7 mph on the climbs. But I still shaved a few minutes off of my first attempt at the climb. I'm WAY down on the rankings, but it's also kind of silly to look at the rankings on Zwift when people's setups are so questionable.

Guh. Yeah, with that cold front shoving in, I'm really missing my boots. I went shopping locally yesterday, but couldn't really find anything. I ordered three sets of boots on Amazon, but they're not going to get here 'til next Thursday, by which time the worst of it will be over.

A foggy, misty morning, still, at 10;30. I put the Cygolite on the charger and read the instructions. The first words on the page stated cycling to be an inherently dangerous activity! Day or night, but with this light.....
Sad!
Sad!

For me, I prefer it much more sedate, too much traveling annoys me. I'll never forget the day I revealed that to my wife. I never had given any thought to the fact we were so different in that regard, but the look of surprise she gave me spoke volumes. We all know that look . . . you're talking to each other and of course not looking at one another, and when something profound is said one party stops what they're doing, picks their head up and looks at the other person wide-eyed . . . yeah, that look.
Couple years later she was an ex-wife. Not to say that was the only reason, but it was definitely in the mix.

Well, Flickr just shut off my uploading because I had over 1,000 photos and now I have to pay. So, I deleted all of my photos and now I have 0.
Used to be a good app. Screw 'em.

Got a few inches of snow this morning. It stopped and the sun came out, so I cleared the driveway. It's dark and snowing again.

It'll be interesting to see what happens with that site. My guess is that these efforts, which they hope will cultivate an active, engaged community, is going to cull the user base significantly and run it in to the ground, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.
