Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Depends on the dog, maybe golden retrievers, lap dogs, etc. Tough critters require a tough dog. She was a groundhog assassin.

The US tax system seems unnecessarily complicated to me. Here there is no thresholding of expenses incurred in prepareing your tax returns: those are always fully deductible.

Certainly when they're peddling tales like that.

In related health news, sinus and coughing activities are making it difficult to play the trumpet. I did go for a walk, however. Boring.

I haven’t had the flu in years or if I have, it’s been a mild case.

For the record, I’ve been getting flu shots since 2003 when my work started giving them for free. Later, I worked in a hospital pharmacy and was required to get them. Now Medicare pays. In between, I got them anyway.

Btw, I rarely self-diagnose and probably trust my medical professionals too much. Even if I’m not happy with a couple, I try to comply.

My friends, on the other hand, all seem to have gotten internet medical degrees in recent years and seem to know everything, especially about their pharmaceuticals. Kind of scary, but I gave up trying to reason with them.

It amazes me when a person has had a serious problem, like say a heart attack, but decides that they won’t take their meds because they don’t feel like it.

I am somewhat sympathetic if any of them are seeing witch doctors. It's largely trial and error anyways.

While we're on the subject of medical stuff, I just read that Prozac could have been the culprit in me deciding to push on for three more km, when hot and thirsty. It resulted in a loss of two hours of conciousness and a bad concussion. What say you?

I think the HS kids are still playing ice hockey and basketball, but lacrosse apparently starts tomorrow at S.U.
