A tyre needs to render 5000+ miles of faithful service to earn the Velo Vol stamp of approval.
I am bigger than you and I'm talkin' about semi-practical, but still pretty racy tires. If I could get 5,000 miles out of a tire, I prolly wouldn't like the feel of it.
Velo Vol used to be the picture of consistency, with an enviable streak of 100 mile weeks.

I slept 10 hours Sunday night and 9 hours last night. Then, went back to bed for another hour. Feel like crap. I’m blaming it on my medicine switch despite my doctor telling me the meds are the same, just different name/manufacturer. I’m going to ride tomorrow, no matter what.

Yeah, I'm talking specifically about rear tires and with regard to wear, not cuts. I've been *knock on wood* pretty fortunate that few of my tires have reached a premature end due to cuts in the last few years. Then again, about four years ago I had a horrible string of cuts and gashes, so maybe this was just the correction.

About two, at the current rate.
Correct. This will go down as my greatest cycling achievement. I went well over a year (maybe two?) with consecutive 100-mile weeks. Not as easy as it sounds, when you factor in winter, rain, no vacations, not getting sick, etc.

Got up after a night of poor sleep because of high wind, ate a quick breakfast, dealt with daughter in Ireland with a drug rash, got the boat together, sailed for 8 hrs, anchored, got the boat ready for night, and now I need to find the energy to make dinner. And we’ve given up gin on the boat.
Anyone else notice the haze from the fires? Air after a big cold front passes should be crystalline.

I have a couple of bolo ties, dunno if I have the appropriate jersey for bolo tie use. A rodeo champ belt buckle would not likely lend itself to cycling. I even know how those guys can ride horses with one of them diggin' into their gut.

Nope, I've just seen a documentary and a news story or two about Tangier. And just guesstimating about what would be reachable if you approximately repeated mileage from today.
Did a little sailing in the 12 footer on the Potomac around DC BITD. High point was running the centerboard into something near National's approach lights for runway 1, quickly capsizing and then all the fun involved in righting her.

Yes, consistency is tough over time like that. A friend of mine climbs over a vertical century every year. Usually over 600,000 feet in 8K miles. Doesn't sound that hard, 10,000 feet per week will get you to a vertical century, but to do it every year for many years is tough.
