Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Watching baseball is a zen thing for me. Set me up on the couch with a beer and some peanuts and I become one with the world

We only watched the second half of Phillies at the Dodgers last night, but it was still glorious.

I usually wait for the downloads to happen for European races.

I watch more downhill racing than anything else though. UCI World Cup races are easy to view on redbull.tv

Leogang Men's racing starts at about 22:00

While Rob and Claudio are technically speaking English they can be tough to understand at times

Going to a game is like that for me - it's wonderful forced relaxation. Just too many other things going on around the house for me to devote any time to watching a live game on TV.

Minor league games are the best these days, IMO. But that might be biased in that the only regular season MLB games I've been to in the last 5 years have been in Phoenix. At Diamondbacks games, with the indoor stadium where they play too much loud music all the time it totally ruins the vibe.

We've been meaning to go to a St Paul Saints game for a couple years, but we officially put it on the summer list this year. They've been one of the more prominent independent teams, but they recently became a Twins AAA team, so there's the possibility of seeing some big-leaguers play, there if they're sent down for rehab or whatnot. Between Bill Murray and longtime owner/President Mike Veek, they have a reputation of creating a fun, fan-oriented environment for their games.

Oh, the best part of the PT visit:

We're talking about stretching and rolling the IT band and my PT is pointing it out to me, "so, it runs along here and attaches right here. You can actually see it really easily on you, because you're so nice and lean."

Yeah, a guy talking about my legs like they're a cut of meat. I'll take it.

I was a massive hockey fan in the 1990s and I used to go to see the Roadrunners a LOT BITD at the Madhouse on McDowell. PHX got an NHL team several years ago, but I haven't seen a game.

*25, but I wondered if there was a minor one in the area too.

Several years ago and for no good reason at all, someone put me on a patent he filed and some corporation licensed the device. Looks like enough royalties have accumulated that the gov't is going to make another payout. I knew there was a reason I ordered those fancy bibs!

Ah. This could be why I found Ibuprofen seemed to be effective.

I find baseball to be excruciatingly dull, whether on TV, in person, or on the field. My Grandfather, OTOH, played professionally back in the 19-teens, then umpired at various levels for 57 years. I think he holds the record for most years of umpiring, but I never bothered looking it up.

That's because the ice keeps melting. Makes skating tough.
