I went out prepared for the wet, which turned out to be a good choice - leaving the S-blade on the Canyon probably saved me a severely wet bum! No rain, but plenty of puddles and water streaming across roads everywhere. The biggest issue I had was wind. It wasn't quite, but felt like, The Omnidirectional Headwind. And enough gusty crosswind in unpredicted places to make me more cautious with my speed than usual. Still, WAY better than wet!!

In other news I picked up some scorpion pepper sauce today. It’s amazing. I’m putting it on everything.

Well, we were the West Coast Outpost for our MD-based company, so we did a lot of Zoom even before the Pandemic.

Well I am a dumb ass, LR44 will work as well, and my local hardware store has those. Will have to pick those up tomorrow. Wanted to ride the el diablo tomorrow. It’s so smooth and quiet, but whyfi created a data junky, and just doesn’t feel right purposely riding without data.
So magic man it is.

I would sometimes shed layers on long rides that began in the morning
a few times I brought a plastic bag and place the shed layer / shell in the bag and would tie it to a tree branch or whatever ... then later retrieve the bag / clothing
obviously that can be a PITA ... requires a drive back to the area ... and might not be there when you return (***)

I spent too many summers working in factories and then too many years in labs for colorful language to bother me. AND Mrs. GJ curses like a sailor, so I've little need to practice restraint.

A squall blew through just a minute or two after The Older Boy and I had agreed he could walk to work (it's about 2 miles). So I ended up taking him, but as it turned out he could have walked anyway. On my ride, I felt a grand total of 3 raindrops. A whole lot more water splashed up on me than fell down on me.

We loved it when we lived there, back between 1987 and 1993. But we were in our early 30s, and now that we're 30 years older, we might not be so happy with the temps. San Mateo seems pretty perfect nowadays.

interestingly, my two kids have inherited this as well. they wilt almost instantaneously in heat/humidity, but argue endlessly about not needing a jacket here. or, maybe that’s because they never stop bouncing around.

My associates and I use Skype, if we need visuals. If we want face time, we meet in person.

Holy Cow! I found a place with calves' brains on the menu. It's been a while since I've seen it, I remember when my favorite place in Vancouver scratched it off their menu during the Mad Cow scare, must've been 2004 or so?
I'm not brave enough to try 'em so I had a nice consomé with garbanzos, arroz, y res. The place was absolute anarchy right after mass on a Sunday but they had so many on staff, service was super quick.

and the city hasn’t changed as much as people like to rage about. we’ve been here since ‘96, bay area my whole life. a little more expensive, some new buildings and a few new trains and a lot of new bike lanes, but really the only major major change has been covid, and post covid “work” from home…
