Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I opt for the reuseable bags for a practical reason - larger capacity per bag. If it helps the environment kudos for me.

I also had one. Accidentally left it on the bike after riding to work and someone stole it.

Ordered a new through-wall AC unit. Not sure if it's 105 or Ultegra level. Donezo with finagling the portable one; not like it's going to get cooler long-term.

Now the portable one can go into my office so running dual monitors won't cook me.

How did it come about? Was there a Canada Plastic Shopping Bag Act of 2019? Or did the Queen issue an edict?

I was reading something from my uncle's case, I think it was, and it referred to "the Crown."

At any event in my city the food vendors have to serve takeaway food in compostable containers (I don't know about the rest of the country). Meat trays are still allowed, provided they are made of a recyclable plastic. Oh and if you forget your re-useable grocery bag the supermarkets charge you about $0.30 for a paper one. Though that last one is just the supermarkets making more $$$ of their customers.
I got a water with the poutine at the mall and it came in a quasi-cardboard container. A "wut" was uttered.

The Crown in a case in Canada, Australia, New Zealand and a host of other country means it's you against the government. Technically the King is head of state in those countries that were part of the British Empire that haven't fully got rid of the monarchy. The current regent exercises their power through a Governor General. I'm not sure of details of how they are appointed. The power is mainly limited to: ceremonial presentation of honours and awards, giving Royal Assent to a bill that has been passed by Parliament (making a law legally come into effect) and to dissolve and establish a parliament.
Mostly the dissolving/establishing a parliament is the formalities at election time. There has been one notable instance in Australia where the Governor General did dissolve parliament in the 1970s thereby forcing a general election before the election term was up.
