Hey, is it true that there is a track racing World Cup Round in Sydney this weekend?

classic1 03-03-06 12:05 AM

It's on right now smoothie.

climbo 03-03-06 12:26 AM

yeah, get down there, it's never full, I went last year. Kersten is ripping it up in the keiren :) Go NSW !!!

badsac 03-03-06 06:38 PM

Went for another mtb ride with my sister around the local xc loop today. First lap came around near the highway, near where the toilets are, only to fnd one dude sucking another dude off. They could care one bit that we saw them. Next lap two other dudes came out of the toilet, one pulling his duds up. On the last lap I fell off my bike. Kids go riding around that track for gawds sake. Don't think I want to go riding up there anymore. :(

climbo 03-03-06 08:05 PM

i'm surprised you can type after that, I may have had to poke my eyes out after seeing that. What's the loop called? Brokeback Trail?

jock 03-03-06 08:06 PM

Maybe you could take a paint-ball gun with you next time. Couple of rounds from close range.... you get the idea

HDTVKSS 03-03-06 08:13 PM

whats the john dory with Kersten getting relegated?

jock 03-03-06 08:18 PM

'irregularities in the sprint'

Kersten has no idea

go complain to the council

badsac 03-03-06 09:58 PM

It's the country for gawds sake. Only you city folks and the movies get up to that kind of rubbish. I felt like throwing stones at them like you would a pair of dogs getting up to no good, but I guess that's getting a bit biblical. Needless to say there will be some complaints going in to the cops or council if I see that rubbish again. Knowing them though I doubt they'd do anything.

Never before has me wearing lycra seemed like such an issue.

mrkott3r 03-04-06 01:31 AM

gawd first time as a novocastrian I have been called a city folk!

Well compared to Bathurst, its huge!

If it wasnt for Mt. Panorama, Bathurst would be even smaller!

Hey, i bet theres some good riding on the mountain! :)

Mate, I hate to break it to you but if you live in Newie you are a city dweller. It may not be a large city but it is still a city. You have reticulated water, a sewerage system, public transport and shops within a 5 minute drive if you choose to use them. And finally you have weirdos doing strange things in public toilets.

Try tank water, water pumps, septic system, no public transport, 35 minute drive at 100 km/hr to the nearest shops and then you can say you ain't no city slicker.

And there sure ain't no funny stuff like you saw out in the country - that's why we have sheep. :p

Bugger. First club RR of the season today which was at a new location that they said we'd give a try to see how it'd go.
Each lap was 8km of hilly terrain, the first of which was right orf the start... and the mercury was heading past 33.
I decided to sit on the guys that are always up front in crits. Wrong! They're not climbers.
Managed to miss the jump of a 5 man breakaway and, worked with another bloke to slowly pull them in. Someone binned it about 50 metres ahead, 3 blokes were helping him and gave me the job of alerting race control and getting a neck brace... 4km of nasty hills away... hammered it so hard, I almost chucked.
Spent about 5 minutes at race control helping get the car sorted. I was knackered, had used up all of my water on the first bloody lap and decided that I'd had enough... my grade were way orf in the distance and I felt like crap. Didn't take long before others, and I mean lots of others, had the same idea. I reckon out of 80 riders, 20 actually finished. There were blokes practically falling over from dizziness, others with the chills... a mate did this race as his first ever race and had to ride the white line in the middle of the road to keep focussed. He kept stopping each lap but they kept telling him that he was in 3rd, then 2nd and sent him out again and again.
Bah! I hate hot weather.

.

bummer. I'm totally crap in the heat. Back in the old I never raced if it was over 25/26/27, and every summer I reckon it takes me a month to acclimatise

yeah, it's a big piss-off, especially as a cyclist who drinks too much coffe and is often stuck in the middle of nowhere needing a slash. :p

What really pisses me off is how selfish it is!! Dunnies are a public utility, but if a particular dunny becomes a pooofta hangout, that dunny can no longer be used by by ~95% of the population for its intended purpose!! And, as Sacco said, it's even worse when it's a family area.

mrkott3r 03-05-06 12:47 AM

anyone watching cycling central? Anyone got any more info on these tubeless wheels?

Yeah, I'm usually OK 'till about 30/31... then it all starts to fall apart.
Only having one cage/bottle on the bike was a silly mistake.

Went out this morning and hammered myself in the hills for 2 hrs to get over feeling like such a dickhead yesterday. Feeling much better now :D

berny 03-05-06 02:10 AM

We had a 1hr40+2 enduro/RR thingy today. On the last lap, 4 guys jumped on the back of C grade up the back straight and got a good 20m break and went on to win the places. Apparently that's ok although I thought sucking off a higher grade was illegal.
Just another way to loose a freekin race.

Odin 03-05-06 02:25 AM

I thought gaining advantage from any other grade was grounds fer disqualification...
I was working with another bloke to pull in the break yesterday, we caught a pair of C graders (at the crest of a hill) and for a brief time all 4 of us drafted down the hill... then one of the C graders (who was behind me) pipes up with "you're not allowed to sit on his wheel"
I apologised, but fer feck's sake I was just after a rest... I had to drag my brakes to stay behind him, hardly gaining advantage.

So we promptly dropped them :D

Apparently it's ok on the last lap for some bizzar reason. I was so pissed I didn't stay for the preso or the outcome of my protest which I had been told would fail.

Nice :)

We had a very technical start to our race today. One lap of neutral then it was like the end of the race, hard surges, little breaks, guys not wanting to pull a turn coz they were hanging on for grim death, bastards like me being negative and shutting breaks down, etc. It was like a game of chess where you were playing 5 different games at once. In the end there was so little cooperation that the average pace got pretty slow.

B Grade were a different story with several guys committing to hard, sustained attacks after we lapped them. As a result we kept getting tangled up with them (and other grades along the way!). Went neutral at one point to let their bunch stay in the chase of a break but they sat up... right next to us!!!!! Morons. Went neutral again when they got the bell lap and they gave us a serve for being too slow. Funny guys.

What I'm trying to figure out is, did Saccy get George Michael's autograph, or not?

HDTVKSS 03-05-06 01:21 PM

raced sport ( cgrade ) up at ourimbah and am embarrased ot say i got a 3rd. not embarased cause it wasnt a higher place, but because all i did was roll around all day, finished the race and was like, is that it?sstill had at least another lap left in me :( took it way too easy :(

that place just kicks you in the assos technicly these days, the new section is really good, but there are 1 or 2 bits i cant ride ( read: don want to risk broken collar bone )

oh well, i have till may to get angry about it! in the meantime, does anyone know a good front MTB tyre that is raceable ( i.e will roll) and brovides some grip ) running the crossmakrs that came on the bikee and they were a bit of a let down yesterday
