A swale is like a drain that's designed to naturally disperse rainwater run-off. Or something to that effect.

Kind of.....it's still reminiscent of a decrepit old gymnasium, but the sound system is now awesome. The bass during "Golddigger" was incredible. Was about 60 degrees in the licenced floor section...I was sweatier than Robbie during the Athens road race.

I hadn't been there since Ice Cube in about 1994!!! It's certainly better than it was back then...

I haven't been there since Billy Idol in about 1987 (free ticket, I promise :)), and it looked like an oversized barn back then. It think there might've even been sawdust on the floor and cobwebs hanging from the ceiling

Odin, take a picnic and a bat and ball for the kids if they are into that, and park yourself in the gardens. Atleast the wife won't resent you unless you take off to punt road for 10 laps :D

Yeah, but rap ain't what it used to be. Heck, even Public Enemy sucks the big one now. I despair for African-American music these days. They're even more mysogynistic and materialist than the fat white rich guys they despise. They're a joke.

And don't get me started on the whole *bleeping* out of the word Nˇgger, either

"Now I ain't saying she a Gold-digger, but she ain't messing with no broke Nˇggers."

Anyone offended? A black man uses an ancient derogatory term. Boo-hoo. Want to disempower a word? Don't get offeneded at it!!! Use it regularly ya honkey crackers!

:)

*waits patiently for the Thought-Poli....I mean Moderators to slap my wrist*

never been to Festival Hall.

Been to Corner hotel about 50 times to see Underground Lovers, Gaslight Radio, Glide, MAchine Translations and a host of international acts. The Punters Club used to be the bees knees, til they could not aford the new lease. :(

Magnficent!!! I met them all at the Palais in 1998....Chuck D, Terminator X, Griff (Gawd knows where Flav was :D).....got them all to sign one of those $45 tour t-shirts.

Was a life moment for me....

Wilchemy 03-23-06 10:56 PM

Seen Nick Cave at Festering Hall twice. The venue sort of suits the mood of the music! :)

Don't be too ashamed of Billy Idol, 531. After all, it was 1987 so he would have been at the height of his snarl. Actually heard a wicked cover of Rebel Yell on PBS the other night. Some punk band covered it & it worked well.
