No helmet laws in Bonnie Scotland! But once I started wearing a helmet over here, I just got used to it.
Turned up at the XC course one morning without and though, no worries never used to wear one.

10 pedal strokes later is was fearing for the safety of my noggin and crafting something out of zip ties and banana leaves!

Apparently I'm doing the 250km.
I mentioned it at the club last week just to see if anyone else was interested... next thing there's a mass email to all members saying I'm doing it does anyone want to join me.

Attachment 14427 Sorry about the crappiness but Im over free picture hosting websites.

Explanation to the picture: at formal and the old bloke in the middle was on of the better/cooler teachers at school. A few of us had a couple of drinks beforehand as well. - but no one was drinking at the formal because it wasnt allowed.

I once broke Hitchys rear derailleur at 10kmh and managed to smash up the back of my helmet.

Needless to say, I've never ridden without one since. Ooo, that was a bit serious!! :p

I raced two or three Opens after the law came in, including a Pro-Am, still wore my danish crash hat and never got questioned by the officials once. I reckon I was the last bloke in Victoria to race in a leather hairnet.:D

No helmet laws in Utah for bikes or motorbikes. Jebus watches over them. But thanks for the thoughtful sentiment.

Ok, that comment isn't quite funny to those that haven't met you. Your 'fro is like an airbag for your noggin. And I mean that in a nice way.

Banana leaves? If you'd use the peel, it would have matched the rest of your kit...

Oooooh! Have you seen these?!?!

*drool*

320g mountain bike rims!!!!!

holly cr@p!

I thought the stans were light.

so what's that make my next mtb wheel set...

souls + mach1 + DT Revolutions + ALU pro lock = stoopid light!

318g + 640g + 283g + 20g = 1260g

Maybe an extra 30g for some rim tape... Sub 1300g wheel set. Man, thats just silly.

I think I would cry if they broke though.

OK, I'm in if you are.
Providing there's no race worth doing that weekend.

Couldn't do that now - bananas are too expensive. Cheaper to buy a .... helmet....

Maybe you could craft one out of a coconut.

HobartDave 05-04-06 06:34 PM

Hey guys, does anyone know if there's going to be ANY coverage of the giro in Aus?

jock 05-04-06 06:52 PM

250km Legend ride is 40% booked already. all 2000 spots will be gone by next payday i reckon.

Trouble doing the Legend ride is that you leave 30mins earlier than the Classic, but from what I can gather, the additional 40Kms are on the first leg to Queenscliff. Means you'll need to move pretty quick to avoid delays at the ferry behind the Classic riders...

Or have I looked at it too much....

Not sure who "The boss" is, but I do know who censored it...

jock 05-04-06 07:31 PM

classic riders only do the legs from sorrento to melbourne, so there should be no clash.

Route A of the ATB dogs goes in reverse direction, route B ferries from Altona Beach to Sorrento. Dun look like there'll be too much trouble rusty. unless those heavy dual susp mtb bush wreckers sink the ferry.

Sorry Jock, I meant the 210Km ATB, not the 100Km Classic. That offers clockwise or anticlockwise route options.

I reckon if you go 210Kms anti-clockwise (Route B), you should get to Queenscliff before the Legends - if you are a legend, you'll be looking at your lunchbox for a while at Queenscliff.......
