My first post, so may as well make it useful...
Clarence St seems to be having a birthday sale from this Thursday to Monday. 15-50% off everything, apparently, if you didn't know ( for details - http://www.cyclery.com.au ) As long as no-one buys up the last Tourmalet in stock after reading this, I'll be happy - because by the time the week is through I plan to have my first road bike. I'm a lurker and may become more permanent - time will tell. But thanks all for the informative threads. |
Welcome Maxim,
But jaysus, it's the middle of the week and some of us have to work!!!! Dun be neaking up in the wee hours with your first ever post on TAT, we're all likely to be drunk or asleep or both. Sorry to hear we've been informative. It goes against every thing we sit on our lazy arses for. Please buy a Ti Tephra off Thylo. He needs at least one customer from TAT before he dies. |
It seems like everyone is trying to sell parts or all of New Zealand, one of the best one I have seen was an auction for the Foreshore and Seabed after the gummint passed some legislation protecting the same from private ownership. Bidding got up into the billions before it closed, but the questions and answers are shriekingly funny.
|
Maxim, welcome.
Firstly, ignore everything jock says. Secondly, retail is for looooseherrrrrzzzzz. Finally, royale already owns two Thylacines and he's here sometimes - albeit not a regular slacker like the rest of us - but that's okay, the pressure is off. As for TAT? Well, I'm largely responsible for this ruckus, so that's rewards enough. BWahaha, that 'forshore and seabed Q&A' is a cracker! |

anyone get hit riding in Woy Woy today? My daughter's music teacher turned up today a nervous wreck after she hit some bloke at a roundabout this morning on the way to the class. He's OK she said and gave him her details etc... He was pretty angry at first but calmed down and was cool about it.

I know absolutely nothing about any of the materials you mention, so give me a minute to become an expert. I'll also need about 5 minutes to come up to speed with the maths involved with frame design, materials properties, welding techniques, painting, and logo design.
Back soon... |
One guy's opinion: http://www2.sjsu.edu/orgs/asmtms/artcle/articl.htm and also here http://www.bohemianbicycles.com/materials%20science.htm
Some stuff on Aluminium: http://www.weldreality.com/aluminumalloys.htm and here http://www.brucescycleworks.com/tips/tip18.html frame design rubbish: http://www.slowtwitch.com/mainheadin...amedesign.html and here http://www.ibike.org/library/bikeframe.htm Wow, now I have frame building superpowers. Lookout Thylo... |

Google it, then read and read and read until you are so confused that a $500 of the shelf frame will begin to look appealing again! :D
