Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Tandem, or recumbent?

I sucked. Got flogged in the scratch race. Had to qualify for the wheelrace from 125m, which might sound like a real bonus but is friggin hard werk. You're off the front all the way with absolutely no idea what pace to set and noone to chase down. Big lactate after that effort. Died in the the wheelrace from a commanding position and called it a night. All learning experience tho. Try again this Saturday

Must have picked up a little virus or summint along the way coz I slept half the day yesterday and have a cracker headache and blanket of tiredness today.

On the upside there was good weather, family in the stands, my first ever push start (nothing like learning on the job ), and watching Nathan Seddon blitz the field in the kieren.

At least you both got to ride/race.

A quick coffee morning ride (yes I did turn up) followed by a rained off Sunday Crit was the highlight of my weekend

I came over here on the promise of sunny weather, wheres my ticket I want a refund!

carbon steerer tubes strike again. guy at work came in today with a nicley re arranged skin pattern on his face. 5 mins out of home warming up and the fork brike through the steerer resulting in the expected face plant and not so happy rider!

Bike was a 2 - 3 year old Giant TCR1 or 0. ouch.

For all of you who have been missing their weekly dose of MT, you'll be pleased to know that Cycling Central will be making its way back onto your screens at 5:30pm this Sunday.

yup was a giant fork. he was surprsingly philosophical about it, i would have been rightly pissed off!. and the guys at the bike shop wondered why i was suspect about carbon steerers on the new Rock Shoks and also why i rejected the carbon lefty for an alloy 1 on the new cannondale....

I was even reluctant to stop using steel steerers when alu ones first started appearing.

hmm.......maybe we should be swapping our forks every couple of years

There's also another show starting in Jan on ch31

Hey Ed, how long's the SEN cycling show been starting at 7 o'clock?

I missed most of the Cadel Evans interview.

What did he say about Armstrong being cranky that he (Evans) was still there with him at the end of that stage?
